Hello everyone, I tried for about an hour to search for a thread for my specific question and unfortunately came up with nothing. I am in the process of swapping the center console in my 2005 350z for the updated 2006-2009 model. I purchased the pictured center console piece and in the pictures that were posted on the listing, the square cutout was not shown. I should have asked to see the storage compartment opened before purchasing, but alas I did not think of it. The listing stated that this part came from a Japanese model vehicle and It looks like the cutout may have came from the factory. My question is, does anyone know if this is a factory cutout and if so, what is meant for. In addition to that question, if it is not factory, any ideas on how to put it to good use would be greatly appreciated.
I have never seen anything like that before, I think there might be a sensor around there or something. Should you not want the hole there I might have a spare I can sell for cheap lol.
Never heard of a factory cutout there, I think the airbag control module or some kind of control module sits right underneath there, but you could try to find the cubby insert to keep crap from falling through.
Thank you for providing a picture of your center console and the cubby insert. I did not realize the insert fit so snuggly inside of the compartment. I will get one of those and probably fill the hole with a plastic plate. Thanks for the reply!
