Default NRG fiberglass Vader hood any good?

Found a vader hood in gelcoat white on eBay, vendor says it's made by NRG...anyone know if it's any good?

Doesn't come with a hood latch, but seller says it can be added.

I'd add hood pins to be safe, but still want an oem hood latch so the battery can't be tampered with.

All help appreciated,

Post link, but I would never purchase any fiberglass body panel for the Z. They never fit right and will need 5+ hours of body work prep

Thanks for the post...I don't mind five to ten hours of body work...to me that's no big deal to be honest.

Anyone with personal experience with NRG hoods?

Well, you won't be able to repair gaps/fitment issues and I doubt anyone here has purchased a fiberglass hood; spend the extra $2-300 for CF

Not arguing, but gaps/fitment issues can be fixed...and I've done that before. You just add fiberglass, block sand down, shape, then fill holes with Rage Gold, sand down, then fill pin holes with a glazing putty, sand down, then high build polyester primer, more block sanding, then base coat, and clear coat (which of course has a few requirements for success but none of it is rocket science).

Anyone can do it...just have to commit to learning and putting in some work, but then you have the skill forever.

It's more like an extra $600 for CF and I personally don't care for the carbon fiber hood look unless it's on a black Z.

$151 difference
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Duraflex-Va...sAAOSwwDJcJudo

https://www.ebay.com/itm/03-06-Fits-...31b3f7222e74f6

I've made custom fiberglass bumpers/hood/boxes and work heavily with fiberglass molding/modifying body kits to fit cars they were not meant to be on. It really isn't worth your time to save $151.
Though if you like doing that stuff go ahead, I just value my time a lot more.

$151 is not worth the time/effort for a fiberglass hood. Just paint the CF and call it a day

Thanks for that link to Carbon Creations...I think I'm actually going to take your advice...I was wrong about my thinking about Carbon Creations...I had looked at them before for a Vader hood and I thought their version was a bit different from a standard Vader style....but that link looks fine and I read all the negative reviews of that seller and much of it you can tell is just buyers being brain dead and making their problems the seller's problem.

The one I was looking at though isn't the Duraflex one. I have a private offer for basically $400 and free shipping, made by NRG, not Duraflex....so the price difference would be $400 v $700-1100 (was looking at Seibon if I went top notch, but seems ridiculous to pay a grand for carbon fiber only to paint it...so I figured I'd just go cheaper and then just do the manual labor to make it pretty but save a chunk of money.

Extremedimensions (Duraflex, Carbon Creations manufacturer) used to be a vendor on here and the prices were much cheaper than through ebay. Unfortunately, I'm not sure they are anymore. If you have fitment issues, and can prove it, they will provide a substantial refund.

Awesome info...thanks for the heads up.

I'm leaning toward the Carbon Creations for sure.

Somewhat off topic but related...how hard is it to add an oem hood latch to these fiber glass hoods? I'll add hood pins...but I don't want only hood pins. Want the hood secured by the stock latching mechanism.

Since you are now talking carbon I'll chime in, most reputable places will make the hoods with a latch. I'll be able to give you an idea on the quality of their carbon as I get my spoiler on Tuesday. There are plenty of people with fiberglass hoods as FRP is practically fiberglass and the MCR hood is made of it and has excellent fitment. You could possibly look at Fly1 motorsports as well.

Your spoiler that you're getting is made by NRG? Which spoiler did you order and from where if you don't mind my asking?

No it's from carbon creations, it's the ings replica. Hate to get replica but there aren't many mild carbon spoilers out there that are a "good brand" got it from Ebay.

Thanks Dark...and hey...with a name like Dark you really should get a Vader hood for your own car... drum roll.... yeah...now you see it...sorry....

Too much Star Wars as a kid I guess.

Let me know when you get that spoiler....I'm really leaning toward picking up a Vader hood, curious how your carbon creations fitment turns out (although I'm already confident from the feedback I've seen and received that CC is a great company. Seibon is my favorite...but I won't spend that much on a hood. Too many other projects to do.

Personally I've got no problem with replica, as long as it's quality. Let me know when you get it and hope it turns out great for ya. I bet it will...carbon is a good company.

Carbon hood should use factory latch. Mine does. I never added it

so far quality seems ok, still has a few pits and inconsistencies in the clear/resin. It's pretty much the norm tho hard to get stuff like this that is perfect, I'll update with fitment when I get around to it.

Well bad news so far, this thing is twisted/warped and there is no way this is going to work. Contacted seller to see what they say.
