I thought Brides weren't FIA approved, and therefore not allowed in some types of racing over here in north america? (ie scca) Someone please correct me if i'm wrong

Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if all seats came out of the same factory, just with different names on them. Marketing is a huge part of any retail business. I think it would be really hard for people to really prove that one brand of seat functioned better than another. The looks are subjective, even the way the seat feels is subjective. The materials used to manufacture it, and the weight I guess could be directly compared. As to R&D, well, I don't know. Truly how many revolutionary ways are there of having somebody sit in a car? It may just be that I'm ignorant about seats, I'll be the first to admit it, but I think of it like athletic shoes. Can one really say that Nike is better than Adidas, or vice versa?

I think the automobile aftermarket is one area that brand name really really means a lot.

I think with seats. It comes down to reputation. Sparco, Recaro, and Bride are pretty established. Just go with what you like. Personally, I prefer Brides.

Brides -> for smaller framed people, JDM look

Sparco ->fits a wider range of body types, motorsport racing look

Recaros -> Euro lux racing type. top tier. bling.

Corbeau -> inexpensive and gets the job done.

Picking which seat is best comes down to how much exclusivity you want and how much you want people to drool over your car.

Exactly.

I find topics like this one funny and a bit arrogant. Just why is the Bride is better than Sparco? Or otherwise? Gosh, it's just a seat. What could be so superior one seat or another?

Real sport seat should be rigid, light, and with good lateral support and minimum soft layer.

Perfect case is a personally molded seat, but it's probably a bit overkill for street car which different people might drive on ocassion.

So good quality cf shell seat is a good seat for sport car. A lot of companies produce quality stuff. The shape is generally the same, the colors... may be different... But I just don't see what is superior about that Bride seat? Bigger label says "Bride"? Richer color? different shaped openings for harness?

Yes, different people like different colors, and some people like to feel exclusive... So manufacturers exploit people nature heavily.

If you'll check kitchen appliances world you'll see that every one manufacturer has different brands for "hi-end" and "usual" appliances. Sometimes it a different label on the same product, more often it's couple of cheap exterior changes and price doubled...

So yes, I won't be surprised if those Bride and Sparco seats are from the same factory

Default Seats

Who makes a seat for the Z that has a flat bottom so my right knee doesn't hit the steering wheel when I brake? Function, not flash, Anybody? If I could find a seat which raises the rear of the bottom cushion, it could work.

Phatmitzu i think your picture is photoshoped man! just look at the passenger seat its so far back and who wouldn't change the passenger seat if u change the driver seat. lol sorry to ruin your time of fame! don't be haten!

I think anything is good. just have to be light and cozy and good lateral support. that's what buying racing seat is all about. oh ya just a quick quesion man. what happen when u put racing seat that don't fold down? like i mean for the storage area behind passenger seat?
