I never used the thing except by accident, so when we installed the Data Systems wing last week, BYE BYE. The same 7/8 plug will fit in the hole for the washer nozzel, but wasn't sure if it would look better of worse...so used reverse flow valve to stave off water and left it alone for now. Taped up the wiring harness to prevent rattles and took out the counter-weight. Painted the plug along w/the wing, no pic of it right now but not obtrusive at all. Got the idea from toykilla, cleans up the rear end if you can live without it, IMO.

 

Where'd you get the plug? I've been looking for one for months

I found the 7/8 plug at Lowe's in thier "hard to find parts section".
Looked all over plumbing...no luck. Home Depot should have it as well. Can get you a part no. tomorrow evening if needed...cost about .80 - .90 cents. Look near the hardware section in Lowes.

 

welcome to the club! I did the same when I installed my data systems, also got rid of the top one. Left the tube up there though, the worst that will happen if accidentally activated is some water in the hatch area, outside of the weatherstripping, the same as if rain.

It does look better without the washer nozzel up there...but appears to be a different size plug from the one in the deck. Do you recall? Didn't realize you had done this as well....Obviously, I like the look.

 

Definatly could use a part #. I've been to every hardware/plumbing store around. The smallest thing I can find is like 1 5/8 i think. I have a lowes like 2 miles from me, I'll have to look for the hard to find section, didn't know there was one. Thanks!

 

can you please explain the reverse flow valve? does it prevent the water from spraying out if the rear wiper control is hit by mistake?

 

The item I used to fill the hole is made by HILLMAN, a 7/8 "Metal Hole Plug", Lowes part # 139406. Hillman # 881268. We used
"Wurth" urethane seam sealer, trade name -Adhesive Flex- to attach the plug. You will need to spread the flanges on the plug for a tighter fit.

 

There is a black hose in the center of the top of the hatch; you can see it when you open the hatch. This is attached to the washer nozzel. It is a two piece hose from the looks of it (I didn't do this, so am relying on techs explanation) If you separate the two, there should be a clear plastic "valve" that only allows fluid to flow one way. They reversed the clear plastic piece. Others have simply inserted a small screw in the end of the hose with some adhesive sealant to stop the water from leaking out. There may be a way to disconnect from the main resevior, but I have not checked into this method. Or you can follow 2003z's solution, as the water will just drain away with no harmful effect.

 

yeah, I just left it, its not going to leak into the car.

You're welcome...I bought the last 7/8 size plug they had here to take the ill fated pics with. If you had been unable to locate would've sent you this one. Doesn't look like much but will do the job. Good luck...

 

so the plug is metal and not rubber or urethane?

 

The plug I used is made of metal.
