Question Techniques for painting Stillen mesh grill

One of these days I will get my Veilside CF front lip spoiler. I also have a Stillen mesh grill in a matte finish. I would like to paint the grill so that the inside edges are gray and the surface is black. I think the paint scheme would look good with the CF lip. Any suggestions on how to paint the grill like this?

that is going to be hard.... i dont know any paint tricks to get it to do that other than paint it black and come back with a file and sand the edges to get them silver leaving the face black... mabey someone else has a better idea?

Good luck

you can always mask off the edges that you want silver with tape or something and then paint the center portion black.
however the best way would to have it powdercoated. with rocks and other road debris hitting the grille, the black paint may eventually chip.

btw, be very careful when putting on the stillen grille with the v1 lip not to scratch the lip or the center of your grille area, as the center portion of the lip makes the grille area smaller than stock.

good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I don't want any chrome. What I had in mind was to paint the whole thing black. Then I would cover the front of the grill with masking tape. I would then spray on the gray from the back side. As long as I make sure the tape is making good contact, that might work.

as long as the silver coat is really thin, it should be ok. otherwise, even if you think you have it masked off good, it may still seep in.

good luck. post pics when you are done.
