You have to remember, those are EL gauges, not like the regular gauges that the light will shine through the numbers. These gauges are more solid, therefore not allowing the light to pass through them. The actual gauges light up (have their own lightsource). That's the cool thing about electroluminesence gauges, they have nothing to do with the original color of the stock lights because they are not affected by it.

I am interested in getting some custom guages.
I want to get Black face/blue font... on the website it says that the blue is a "white" blue... but when you turn out the lights, the blue is dark.
Basically, I want a blue that is royal blue, close to the DB color, not the sky blue.

JUN, you said you could change the needles, how would I go about that?? i would like them to be either blue, or green...

I have also looked into other companies to work with the Z33 cluster. I believe this is the company you are referring to..

Import Intelligence

Anyway I have sent the guy from speedhut another email and I am waiting to hear back from him.

Does anyone have any pictures of what teh gauge cluster looks like inside and if there is any way possible to remove the stock needles? That is our only limiting factor.

Well I have just got off the phone with the Tech guy from speedhut. We discussed some possibilities as to how to get around the issue of the not being able to remove the needles as well as to reduce the size of the holes in face overlays if that is the route we have to take. One suggestion was to just make a slot instead of a large circle if the needles can't be removed, this way you can see more of your custom face. Also, as they take apart the gauge cluster they will be taking pictures along the way to possibly develop a process "how-to" for everyone if they can find a way to remove teh needles. I will post more info as I get it. So far we have one order, but I am sure more will be on teh way.

Oh yea, for anyone who has questions as to custom colors not listed on the website (speedhut), just ask them here and I will get you an answer as soon as possible.

i'm in for silver face/orange number.

And you don't have to remove the needles to install the gauges. Trust me on this.

I have received some pictures from the Speedhut tech and now I see why it is very hard to remove the pointers(needles). We are looking at a way around this, so way to remove the needles while not breaking them off, this might include some dremel work. Don't worry, there will be a full "how to" with detailed pictures. I will post up some more information tomorrow.

The option of just making holes in the new faces to slip over the pointers really isn't the path we want to take.

Well, if you think about it, the gauges will have a hole in the middle of each gauge regardless, or else how would the needles connect? There's no way for the gauges to not have any holes.

Unless i'm misunderstanding you.

Eugh... sorry, EL isn't my thing. Those things dim over time.

After seeing that someone can actually pull out the needles from the tri-pod cluster, I'm sure we can do the same for the main cluster. However, we need to get the needles in the correct position or get it calibrated.
