The mulidata (infometer) display is the problem. Here's what you're up against.

Picture taken from autocarparts.com, where ACP has installed a defi-link gauge setup. Don't know what he did with the datadisplay.

Id suggest, you take the set out, based on ksheps photo, the screen appears to be seperate from the pcb by a cable or something. extend the cable and remotely mount that crap wherever itll fit, keeping the screen where it is.

Nah.. the LCD module is mounted via pins so it's easily removable.

Tim (ACP) says the needles take little effort to pull off.

I don't know where ACP remounted the Trip Computer (if at all), but I know he put Defi guages in all 3 spots so the Trip Computer isn't there anymore.

if the LCD mounts via pins, how would you be able to relocate it? you would have to get each single pin and solder it to a wire and connect it respectively to the base (i.e. 5 pins = 5 wires?).

hmm interesting.......ill have to pull it all apart and see what happens, the guages will be here by friday so i will have pics up by saturday with the install. if there is a way to keep it ill figure it out and let you know whats up! thanks for all your help. i ordered 4 blitz guages boost egt oil pressure and water temp the blm series for only 375$ electronic.... if i have to mount the 3 in the stock place then do you think it would look stupid if i mounted the other one on the pillar with the aem wide band .... keep in mind the blitz is 60mm and the aem is 52mm so would it look stupid like that or should i not even care? i made the a pillar myself like the one on that thread about making your own pillar pod. also stillen exhaust is goin on and high flow cats, tomorrow.

If you install the 60mm on the lower portion of the a-pillar and the 52mm above it...might be o-kay.

If you can't work those gauges into the OEM cluster, two can be installed underneath the A/C controls...but they might need to be 52mm

Unfortunately, that's not my car with the gauge inlays, just a pic I had saved for those having trouble positioning gauges in the Z.

That is m3powrrr's work(a-pillar)...you can try pm'ing him with the thread id..maybe he can assist. Or e-mail sung@kbodyshop.com

Does anybody know if all of these guages and readouts can be put through an ECU and then onto an 7" LCD screen instead of a bunch of guages? I know the Skyline R34 GTR has that feature that shows, % throttle, boost, egt, oil pressure, etc all displayed onto the screen on top of the dash. Is there a program like this available?

If there is such an animal, I'd yank that OEM nav out faster than you can say "Honey, I think we're lost"

Yet another option...

Mine is the first a-pillar pic with the two gauge pods, black.

The triple a-pillar pod was one of the first to come out for the Z, produced by PTP Motorsports I believe. I think they are making a two gauge pod, as is Autometer. Don't know what kind of gauges those are.

[RAGE]

Don't hold your breath while you wait to hear from PTP Motorsports on when this triple a-pillar gauge pod will be ready for sale. I put in an order with them back in February and played email tag back and forth for about 4 months before I decided to give up on them ever getting the piece made and available for sale. Every time I talked to them they were like, "yea it will be ready in two weeks" , then a month goes by and the same thing happens, "sorry about that, it will be ready in two weeks', well my *** it will be. I bet they don't even have it available for sale right now and it is already AUGUST!!!

[/RAGE]

I really liked that a-pillar, it was a triple made in carbon fiber, but unfortunately they were unable to follow through with getting them made up for the customer. I will be going to Autometer now.
