Top Secret has a patent here in the US for their designs, which means no one is allowed to duplicate their products.

Top Secret monitors these forums and will take serious legal action against anyone that replicates, or uses the "top secret" name to sell their products. Can't use "Top secret like design" or some crap like that. There aren't that many aftermarket hoods for the G35 and we all were doing some photoshops to see if someone could make them based on our designs. Top secret told us to step off any design that looked like theirs. I found that kind of funny since their is no Top Secret hood for the G35. However, they say one is in the works. I wonder what sort of legal claim they would have for something like that if someone came out with a design before them, but they ended up looking identical.

sounds kinda fishy to me...

I can agree that if you make an exact copy then fine, but if you ater even in the slightest bit they have NO caim to it. Another aftermarket company called AED (US based) tried this too and failed miserably because there was NO way they could defend a "trade dress infringement" because aftermarket is just that aftermarket and no one can hold "design patents" on designs or styles. You're limiting others' rights and abilities to create. So what if it has similarities, if it is different then it's different.

sorry for the long rant, I just think it sucks that some companies think they hold some golden key to design that no one else can turn.
