Yes as MGL said they should go down, I don't know why they would stick up becuase they are basically the same duplicates as stock. I guess just in do time.

Yah thanks to ARES because just having a clear sidemarkers in the bumper and not the strip looked funny to me. But it looks very clean now. Welcome to the clear strip club! Did you get the milky white one or just clear?

Thanks for the comment Yuichi! I will definitely keep my eyes on the curve, hopefullly within the next few days it will go down.
I think I really need to reapply some more sealant on few spots just to be sure that it is seal before it rain over the weekend.
I initially order the milky one, but I decided to get the clear one instead. I was going to paint some off white underneath the stripes, but after thinking about it for a while, I decided to leave it chrome and hoping it will look just as close to the clear side marker. As you can tell in the picture, they actually match up pretty good. So I'm glad I didn't paint anything under the stripes.

Just fyi for those thinking of this mod. The oven method takes 15 to 20 minutes and makes the light easy to open. So far I have not heard any horror stories about the oven, but there is a chance they have not been posted.

Tony - Sorry to hijack your thread, the strips look great. I cannot wait until I get my lights back from clearcorners!

Seeing all these DIY headlights I've decided to do mine also. I just ordered a set of new headlights today .

Ares, are your clear strips available now? I'd like a set.

Man, that's hot. I rather use some sort of smoke paint instead of flat black... :-)

Has anyone painted the top portion where the amber bulb is? I'm thinking of painting that as well. Also what kind of glue did you use to put the headlamp back together?

I plan to; if/when I open mine. that is a reflective surface for the turn signals though; so you might get some loss of output. no worries for me; I have the LEDs anyway so they are directional.

to be honest. in my dreams I see 20 5w luxeons in 2 rows replacing the whole HID/highbeam setup. all black with just 20 lenses. mmm just like the concept cars that are around these days. but I dont have 600$ to mess with a headlight.

Ill probably just paint mine all black. brights be damned; I never use them anyway; but the HID reflector seems to be a nescessary evil. I love the ferrari look though where the housing is all the body color except for the little HID lens.

Yeah, after the car wash over the weekend, unfortunately there were leak and moisture got in it. and fogged up both of my headlights. On top of that, one of the HID bulb got burn out because of it. So, I'm planning to re-open them this weekend and completely remove all the old sealant and replace it with new. At the same time I'm going to replace the bulbs with some 6000k bulbs. Now I have a more of a ideas on how to take it off, I will make sure to take my time and reseal it correctly. I kind of had a feeling that the seal was not done correctly, since I was running out of time to put them together.

Can anyone suggest what kind of sealant would be good to use to seal them back?

Ares,

Could 20 5w Luxeons really put out as much as a HID headlight?!

Zisbak,

Big props to cleaning up the front. The all-chrome headlight is as good as it gets, in my opinion. Very very sleek.

Id say they could far far outdo them actually.

for example; if youve seen my bulbs for parking lights; those run at 100mA. due to size and location theres no way to effectively cool them. but a 5w can run at 1000mA; that means 10x as bright; around 120lumens per bulb. coupled with proper optics and great cooling... oh yeah.
