E-dash kit in aluminum
Received my 'aluminum' E-dash kit yesterday. Overall not too thrilled with it. I got the expanded kit with 34 pieces including a large Z that goes in the cut out of the cargo door. ($251. total)
E-dash had difficulties getting the item to me. They blew the initial 10 working days that they committed to and when I called about it on the 10th day the item was not even done yet, let alone shipped. I wait another 5 days and it still has not shipped. Finally they Fedex it 17 days after I placed the order.
I receive it and it was well packed. Here are my musings on the kit itself:
1) Does not look like real aluminum - looks like an undefined silver material under a thick layer of some kind of clear coat.
2) Some of the pieces were not cut very precisely. I had to trim the sunglasses door cover to fit into the base piece that goes around it.
I won't be installing the whole kit . . . I will take some of the smaller and less visible pieces and put those on. They look ok as long as they are not subject to close scrutiny. Putting on the whole kit would defintely cheapen the overall interior look and give it a 'Colorforms' look.
Carbon fiber might look ok but the aluminum does not really resemble aluminum on the larger pieces. No pix at this point - sorry.

I think the carbon fibers look ok . . . it's just that trying to emulate aluminum (or any metal) and keep it moldable to curved surfaces is tough.
