It's not horrible but it sure makes me scroll a lot.

Think the new format would be good to view pictures that are wide, so you wouldn't have to scroll left and right for each picture to view it. In other words, you get more viewing space the size of your profile box.

 

But, arent you on here more it looks more the matter of something your use too, most people dont like change..

Change for the sake of change is never good.. I like it the way it was (and is back to now). The dead-space can be a killer, look at some of the forums that put adds in-between every 3rd post or so. It really breaks up the flow.

With the avatars on the side, next to the text, it allows you eye to read the text while it can shift back to the avatar/name of the person that typed it quickly, without distraction. Every time your eye goes left-to-right to read the next sentance, you eye catches the avatar and name, re-enforcing the identity of the poster.

This allows for easier user-message correlation for some folks. (Hey, I design web portals as part of my job..)

Think of it as "Forum Feng Shui".
