Default Search Feature Just doesnt cut it!

I have spent days searching over and over on these forums only to find out things I wasnt even searching for. I read thru pages and pages of crap that has nothing to do with what I searched for.

So for all you Search people out there does this really work for you?

Are there any other 350Z forums with helpful information I can check out?

Search for complaints about search before posting another search complaint.

The search feature seems to work fine for me.

If you say so!

Let's take a poll here. How many people feel the search feature works as well as these veterans say it does?

Personally I have yet to find something I actually searched for. Although there is a lot of useful information on here, the search feature just goes around the word you search for.

Default search blows

Search blows. For my last topic, I tried to search first. I typed in throttle cutting and got all sorts of retarded **** just because it had the word "throttle" in it. And 30A% of the posts didn't have either. ???

You know you can tell the search to look at titles only which will narrow down things a bit.

notice that the premier members and sponsors who get the better search engine don't have any problems with it.

Seems like a good reason to upgrade.

Standard search for people without premier membership kinda sux, though. It takes a lot of searching to find what you're actually looking for.

Problem with that is the 5+ page topics that include what you want to know but but are brought up in something not too related in the title.

Yeah, but I think those threads are few and far between. Most threads have decent titles.

go to http://www.google.com

type in
site:my350z.com "supercharged 350z"

"supercharged 350z" (with quotes) - search for the phrase supercharged z
supercharged 350z (w/o quotes) - search for the words supercharged and 350z

works much better than the search on any forum.

there is an option that is called advanced search, that way you filter out irrelevant stuff before you even hit the button. try that instead. otherwise you actually see how many times n00bs post up the same questions over and over again, therefore having a bunch of threads to try and sort through

How about adding an option to the function such as "contains all" or "contains any" of these words being searched. That would help narrow down my searches a lot. I'm with the OP. The search function is so very basic and could use some updating.

Hmm before I was a Premier member 2 weeks ago the search worked exactly the same. I never had a problem. There is no different search engine for Premier members.

It's called end users not knowing how to use the search properly.
