I think the boards should have a chart of 1/4 times. LS1.com for example has the top 100 times for its members. If not that, then how about a list of times people get w/ different mods. That way it would be easier for people to get an idea of what mods will do what for their 1/4 mile times.

Make them post time slips, or you can require a minimum # of GOOD posts.

 

You could also require them to provide a picture of their engine bay. Do you guys see a chance of this happening at all? I will be able to work something out.

I don't think requiring a scanned pic of the time slip is unreasonable. I know if I had a good run that shiet would be framed.

I am not against such a list, but I don't think it should feature prominantly here. Definately relegate it to the racing forum at least.

I think this list will end up being troll bait to a large extent. While our cars are quick, they are not drag racers. LS1 cars are drag racers. I can understand this list being a big thing when that is your cars specialty. And I know it's a big deal to a certain percentage of 350Z owners...just not a majority. My usual unrequested $.02...

 

BS can be detected in several ways.......if the absolute best run of a stock Z is lets say 13.8, and someone says they bolt on a mod that delivers 10HP and then suddenly run a 13.5.....10HP roughly equals a 1/10 of a sec from what i've seen.......so that makes you wonder where they picked up the other 20HP........as more and more Z's track their times, it will be increasingly difficult for someone to claim a ridiculous time.......i do like the time slip idea though.......since i have all mine right next to my computer

 

I agree with you. I think that it should be kept to the Racing Forum.

 

Bear in mind also that showing time slips doesn't mean squat. Being somewhat of a photoshop guy myself ( ), I could ensure that I always had the fastest 350Z of all, with slips to prove it. Hey, there's an idea...

True, but as eltrick said it is easy to detect BS. So what if there are 1 or 2 people that we don't find out. They are only cheating themselves. They can not say I am the 2nd fastest person on the boards. They will not be able to prove anything to their friends or anyone the meet on the boards in person, because they simply will not be able to pull those times. Everyone will realize they are a lying cheat and lose all respect for him/her. This will only hurt them in the long run. Sorry about the rat, but I really dont like people who cheat or lie.

If anyone wants their time on the top 20 list then they must provide.....

• a picture of the timeslip
• picture of mods to back the timeslip up

That sounds pretty good.....are there gonna be seperate categories for the top 20?.......like boosted and non-boosted, and bone stock?......that would be cool, it would give people with less mod money a chance at 1/4 mile fame also.......for the bone stock category they could provide an engine bay pic to show lack of mods

 

I got a pic of a bone stock engine bay, I could also then put in a bunch of mods, or even an exhaust that you couldnt see. and get a better time. give the old picture.

I dont think anyones gonna lie. if they wanna lie, good for them. I dont think this should be a competition or anything, thought it was just so people could see what mods get what times.

Yeah...I was just joking around. It's nothing to make a big deal out of. I just don't think it should be prominently featured on the main index page or anything.
