You will also notice one of the mods before me banned you for calling mods pussies. Then you created a second screen name. I just extended your ban, so is that a ***** move on my part? oh wait you cannot respond to that now can you? See your sore butt in 3 months, unless you try creating another screen name and then we will see you never again.

funny thing is, when purging I have probably deleted 10K of my own posts in the process.

You could make $$ by charging for post count additions.

I hardly ever post in the for sale section and I'm about 300 posts down in the last 2 days. And I'm not trying to start any drama here, but can a mod please tell me why so many posts that don't break forum rules are being deleted from the NSFW:funny/gross picture thread? Again, I'm not talking about pictures or comments that break forum rules.

edit: Nevermind, I just read USN's comment on that in the picture thread. So we're not allowed to post anything in there unless it's a picture?

Even my posts got deleted. Who cares?

What's with people getting all caught up on stupid post counts? This is like bench racing with dyno numbers.

This is one reason why I contemplated whether or not to even have post counts in non-technical forums. Maybe we should have a forum-wide poll about this.

No offense, but it's not the post counts anyone is worried about. But it's just pointless to delete posts that don't break rules. And they were being deleted almost immediately after being posted. And when members simply asked what was happening to the posts, those posts were also deleted with no explanation. A simple explanation would have been nice at least

I understand what you're saying and I agree with you guys to an extent.

However, keep in mind that a lot these threads, some of which have been around longer than you guys, have always been purged from time to time. Recently, we haven't been cleaning up the OT like we used to, so this may have caught you guys by surprise and may have caused some confusion.

Logic would dictate that since all text-only posts were being deleted, leaving only the pic/vid posts in tact, the motive/reasoning was clear. It was obvious to us staff members, since we're just doing what we've always done, but evidently it wasn't for all members. I'm subscribed to that thread too so I guess I should have let you guys know once I saw the mods deleting the text-only threads. I apologize for the lack of communication.

Lastly, it's not "pointless to delete posts that don't break rules." As mentioned above, we've always done this.. maybe not recently. All the off-topic posts (in this case, text-only posts in the pic thread) are technically "useless" (violates our TOU, technically), but it's more about saving bandwidth. There's no reason to quote a post with 30 pics, there's no reason to post smilies only, no reason to have private and OT convo, etc. Plus, it saves the other members, who clicked on the thread to see funny pictures, from having to sift through 2030123548 pages of BS.

BTW, you guys are always welcome to PM me with questions, concerns, comments, etc regarding the forum, including members, vendors, and staff members. Just leave your emotions out of it.

Actually none of us in that thread had any idea what was happening. We didn't know if it was a mod deleting the posts or if the forum was just acting up. So we very politely asked what was going on, and those comments would also just get deleted a minute or 2 after being posted.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Because normally any time a member questions a moderators actions, I've noticed that the 2 most common outcomes are that the persons comment gets deleted or he/she gets banned.

I don't think all the posts were "very polite." I think a mod may have also told you guys before USN HM 350Z posted. But, regardless, I understand. Next time, I will try to have a global notice or an announcement for all to see.

Honestly, I think you may have misinterpreted those events. There shouldn't be and I'm not aware of any moderator (I can check, though, if need be) banning anybody for simply asking "why." The members do get banned, however, once they start demanding answers, start calling mods names, rehash, etc.

+1,

There's a right way and a wrong way to voice your opinion, and or, question the system. Being belligerent and insulting staff members is not the way to do it. A good example on how to address your concerns with staff is how Calin just did. He voiced his opinion and questioned our procedures in a calm collective professional manner. I personally always extend the same courtesy I expect in return. Resorting to personal insults is not how to conduct yourself. Think about one's work environment. Would one walk into their supervisor's office throwing insults, as a way to question company policy? Surely this approach would not go over well...

That's because your post count is nowhere near the 1337 status.

But seriously, do we need to take away the entire post count system? I brought this up before with the staff but decided against it back then. Maybe we need to reconsider.

I'm glad posts are purged personally...Lots of the pic threads seemed to have pages of comments and then you see a pic w/ someone saying "now onto some more pics" or w/e.

So thanks Mods for doin' this... (Do I get a million post count for sucking up to Mod gods) ha ha

Just curious, what was sno's second screen name? I remember when Flick Montana got banned one time, he turn right around and created a second screen name called Mick Flontana and continued to talk chit in the same thread that got him banned in the first place. I don't know why, but I thought it was funny as hell.
