Default This is a little ridiculous

What kinda timeout do we have here? Quite often if I leave my comp idle for a few minutes and return, I'm logged out and have to relog in name&pass for the forums.

What really pisses me off is that this can take place while scrolling down a thread and reading, so as when I get to click on page 2, "you are not logged in" comes up and prompts me for name&pass. Just yesterday I wrote a good reply that took meybe 20min and when I hit submit I was logged out and lost all info typed. Why must we even have a timeout? This isn't the only car forum I've belonged to yet it is the only one that does it. I'm assuming it's the programming. If it could be a cookie/settings issue on my end please let me know, though I'm still an active member in one other forums and this never happens there.

Thank you

and Merry Christmas to ALL!!!!

I've never had that problem, I stay logged in all the time. Under edit options for cookies & privacy, the order for the first three is no, yes, yes. I think those are the only things that should affect the logging out. Is that what you have selected?

I have no, no, yes. What do you think?

Why would auto loggin affect my time browsing after I manually logg in?

I changed the setting on my site to log someone out after 30 minutes. I think the forum default is 15 minutes. SO if you are doing a long reply you could lose it if it takes you longer than the 15 minutes.

I do not know if this has any effect on the speed on the forum if you change it. I would assume that the number entered is just updated in your cookie as you browse the site, however I have noticed that people are listed in the whos online for longer than they are on the site. My site does not do as much traffic as this one. Victor I would ask vbulletin about changing that setting in the options.

Changed my cookie options to no, yes, yes and it fixed it. I just stay logged in all the time now. But isn't this a waste on the site? I guess I should probably logg out at the end of each day.

i only turn it off to prevent someone else from logging on under my name since I am the admin.

Otherwise you can just leave it on.

your only logged in when your browser is open; I think it just sets the cookie to automaticly log you in when your return.

otherwise the list of active users would be way longer.
