What advice would one give to a beginner learning to drive stick shift and getting in to 1st gear SMOOTHLY? ****I will be practicing in an empty lot****

 

Check your ego while avoiding poles on Thanksgiving.

 

If you are on flat ground you can let the clutch out slowly and the car will pull itself without having to give any gas. Then you can work on giving it gas while letting the clutch out. Then you can work on slight hills, heel-toeing the gas/brake pedal while letting out the clutch to avoid rolling back.
