there's just no way around it, with my schedule I just don't have much time to get on a PC most days, and when a subject occurs to me to talk about or I get a notification, I suppose I could let them pile up until I get around to using the PC, but obviously on a normal day I'm just going to jump in here on the phone. My phone isn't old, it's a s20, but this site is absolutely awful on this phone using Chrome. it is unbelievably frustrating. like the content is compelling so I put up with it but there are days when I just give up and quit and leave. not blaming the owner / moderators, just complaining about shitty software really. this is 2023, not 1995 anymore. it's really not a big deal to have a functional text editor box. The effing ads pop up in the most inconvenient places and times causing multiple navigations and going back every time I try to do something. there's a goddamn ad bumping all of the content up or down when I'm trying to use the text editor. actually, taking the time to think about this and post this feedback, convinces me that I just need to stop using the phone entirely for the site, this is the only site I use that is not functional on a mobile. I just can't anymore... going to have to control my urge to respond right away and just save notifications for when I'm on the PC every so often. it really is that bad

 

Yeah, I never use this site on the phone. I only use my laptop with Firefox and two ad blockers.

 

That's really weird. I got off Steve Jobs' nuts a long time ago and swore off apple devices. I also refuse to pay more than $200 for a phone. I'm from the olden days of yore when phones were free for signing a 2 year contract. It's like the cover at a bar. Wait... You want me to pay to drink here and spend more money? Yeah, ok... $1400 for a new fancy iPhone? Pound sand.

So anyways, I've got a super basic cheap Motorola phone that's android-based. I have zero of the issues you're describing. I've never even gotten a pop up. I also use a Chromebook with none of those issues either. What Android OS and chrome version do you have?

 

I have a Samsung s20 that I got on a payment plan with a trade-in so it was paid off quickly. I also don't like high priced phone plans and I keep a phone for about 3 years minimum before upgrading. never owned an iPhone. I had one iPad when it first came out. see, I'm responding to this with the phone, instead of using my PC like I swore, but I'll be getting on it today to work on a relatives taxes again. I do plan on using the site only on the PC, unless a quick reply is all that's needed.

I think they already did in 1984. Humans become reliant on technology which becomes self-aware and starts killing their creators.

 

@Legacy406 If I were better at technology I probably wouldn't have any problems. you would think with an IT degree I wouldn't have any complaints about forum software. then again, that may be exactly why.... because I've worked on so many projects over the years I have little patience for shitty code and bad design.
