do all of the Superchargers for the Z have a noticeable whine at idle, or when accelerating? (excluding the Stillen)

i personally don't like the whine of superchargers... i've found threads claiming the vortech is both the quietest and loudest, and some that even say it sound more like a turbo then SC

also, let's say the Vortech is the quietest SC... that doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't have a constant noticeable whine... it just may be quieter then the other which are ridiculously loud (like ATI , i know it gives a lot of power, but i just can't stand the whine!)

p.s. the ATI is the only one i have heard in person, if you have a vid or sound clip of your Vortech, HKS, etc. please post them, thanks

My vortech has a wine, but it is not that loud like the ATI kit. It is much quieter. When I get on it, the car is a little loud but i also have some other mods that increase the noise as well. Also, on the road others would swear its a turbo, my bypass valve can be very loud. Great kit though.

 

The Vortech is the quietest . I havent heard the HKS . The BOV is very loud on the vortech . It whistles very loud . It can be toned down with a filter vortech sells for it , and I stuffed it full of a foam air filter piece . I can hardly hear it whistle now

 

is the whine noticeable at idle when your outside the car?

 

Quietest....HKS.... hands down. Nothing else comes close.

 

Vortech here, and the whine is noticable.

I have a friend with an ATI, now that thing makes some noise.

Would I go back, hell no!

I just tell people it's a bad bearing in the alternator. ha ha

 

I think I have a HKS...but I cant really be sure cause I can't hear it very well...but i havent really gotten on the throttle

 

An HKS rep. had their car on display at a local meet. I asked if he could start it up to see how loud it was. With the hood open and the rep. blipping the throttle, the sc stayed very quiet. Their was more engine and exhaust noise then sc noise. Very impressive...
