Default Has anyone screwed up their engine with a Vortech?

I really got the money this time . So i am not sure what to do. I need the car to be reliable and there is somthing about Stillen thats pissing me off, i think its there customer service, and i dont even own the kit yet!!!!!

So my question is, if i were to save alot of money and get a Vortech kit, and run it out of the box no tunning just a dyno to make sure its running right, will i be alright?

IF U HAVE HAD UR ENGINE MESSED UP BY A VORTECH KIT, PLEASE POST WHAT HAPPEND AND WHAT THE REASON WAS!!!

Thanks,
Jordan

Just a word of advise and most FI people will agree if you dont have enough saved after buying the vortech kit to pay to rebuild a motor dont go FI, you never know what can happen. I have enough to buy a s/c or twin turbo but im just waiting til I have enough to build a bottom end just in case something goes wrong.

There has been a few blown motor with the vortech, I think booger is one of them, I dont remember who else but there was definetly more.

Yes I blew my motor . But it was my fault . I wasnt pulling enough timing out .The out of box tune on the Vortech pulls a bunch of timing out and is safe .I had a smalller pulley on too . You can get it tuned to get about 20 or 30 more HP and still be safe

That's exactly what i told him, and exactly why i didnt go FI, i had the money for the install and all of the tuning but then nothing else to put the power tot he ground and w/e, so i did the ultimate upgrade, M3! Even though the M5 has more HP and Torque, they are a dead even match still due to weight difference and alot of other thing, both are sick cars and the g35's also, i still have mine!

Hey Booger- the only two guys in my city that had Greddy TT blew their motors this last couple weeks. I know you know your stuff and was wondering if you think I'm at risk or borderline at risk? Thanks man!

Anyone who has a forced induction setup on a stock motor has significantly increased risk and should not assume stock reliability.

The rods, rod bolts, and pistons in the VQ35DE are not strong enough to support a strong, reliable FI setup. IMO, anyone who cannot afford to replace a blown motor should not take the risk.

that definetly an upgrade, did you get it already? IMO I think the M3 looks better than the M5.

agreed, IMO forced induction and reliable should never be put in the same sentence.

I agree, both are fast and powerfull, the V8 feels more powerfull but once your in an M the power for a small car makes up for it, they are both sick but i love the M3 alot more, so much more fun to drive and i pick mine up tomorrow! I'll get some pics up, it feels like somethign else while driving it and even just sitting in it, its a near supercar to me with Carrera like acceleration, i love it! I wanted to go FI badly on a coupe or w/e but i know the way i drive the engine would be gone in a few days or so, and i didnt have money to rebuild the internals and i promised myself i would only do it with a fully rebuilt motor to keep myself out of trouble, so i did and instead of getting a coupe i got some extra cash, alot extra lol and went for my dream! I could have had many other cars, it was a tough decision but this is what i truely wanted over anything, i didnt want to settle for less! (Evo MR, STI, 350Z, G35coupe) i already had a G35 modded and knew the power and whole car basically, it was time to move on!

IMH, the Vortech is awesome. It's all about the install and the tunning. The forum has mostly agreed that you are in a safe area up to 400 RWHP! So hopefully you can use that to your advantage. I just bought my vortech and my installer has done a lot of these kits and has yet to have a problem!

Good luck!

one thing you should keep in mind, someone may be pushing 400+ whp w/ their votech kit on stock internals and their car will be fine... while someone else might be pushing something like 350whp and blow their motor because they drive more aggresively then the guy w/ 400+

also, someone might *think* they drive their car pretty hard, but you might not

I've still not read enough good stories about FI to go with it. FI seems to be about braggin' rights and staight line speed. I think I'll be spending cash on brakes and suspension. If I decide I want 500 hp, then I'll buy a Viper. Besides, there is really no need for that much power on a tight twisty road.

I beat the living **** out of my car with the vortech s/c. redline, all the time. The tune is relatively conservative, considering it was installed/tuned at Vortech.
