jwt oil pan spacer with welded baffling on stock pan? FI
I started a thread over on the roadracing forum. Thought this might actually be a better place for it...
What do you all think of the idea?

Thats actually a really good idea. Or hey even if someone wanted to buy a spare pan or two and weld a couple up and sell them with the pan spacer for $XXX and have people ship you back their old ones...
I am a JWT dealer and have excellent fabrication abilities. I would be open to doing it for you but I personally havent the time to put any R&D into that right now so you guys would be on your own and I would do it to your instruction.

phunk - have you done anything for additional oil capacity / baffling?
to keep this in perspective, when I do go FI (sometime late next year), it will be with the goal of making the Z a track demon. So while I won't be pushing the edge for max hp, the car will be driven harder than just about anything else. my big issue is going to be durability - hence doing an engine build for the expected power levels of ~400-450whp.
has anyone's FI car spent any significant time on track? none that i know of have yet, so i think it may be slightly uncharted waters (although that may change over the course of next summer) - there is a big difference between someone doing 10 pulls on a dyno and going out and doing 20-30 minute sessions 4 times a day at VIR three times a month.

oh - the point
1) is the pan steel (ie i hate welding aluminum), 2) any particular prep and cleanup you can imagine i should do? the outside of the pan is painted (i think), but i assume the interior is not. just concerned about schmutz coming loose in the oil bath...
