Default Any problems with motor with APS TT?

I was getting ready to order the APs TT system for my car and i was wondering if anyone has had any problems with there Z after installing there kit, because i have heard so many people blowing there motors with the greddy and the Power enterprise kits. Let me know what you think of the APS kit.

Yeap, I've got a huge problem with it. After some tuning this weekend on our car I can't drive it! Its still on summer tires and the weather has been super cold. Its painful to tune our Z to 473 whp at 9.8psi and not be able to drive it on the streets. Plan is to hit 500whp later this week when the our schedule clears up.
If installed correctly you should never see any problems with this kit. I'm sure the motor can hold up with proper tuning at 400whp or a little more. I put 3000 miles on our Z with the APS kit at 410whp ish with no problems whatsoever on good old pump gas, 93 octane.

We've done several APS kits with tuning and so far no issues whatsoever. I believe more kits will be installed as spring and summer approaches.

Nope, stock motor still. Running good old chicago winterized 93 octane.

Their APS TT is fine, there, but if they're not building-up their bottom-end, there, and if they're not getting their new set-up tuned, there, then: BOOM, there!

Read some of their threads on there, and you'll see what they're struggling with, there, with their engines, there.

They're, their, there!

that was helpful...

anyway, I think I read that APS's own Z has like 60k miles on it now - I think that's what I read. And it's still pulling high 11's/low 12's.

I'm sure you can run the APS system on stock parts for awhile as long as you get it properly set up. I'm thinking about doing the APS kit, but assuming I'd have to upgrade the internals sooner or later

They are probably better tuned out of the box than other kits so early failures will probably be few or none, but I am sure part failures will be around the corner once more are installed and more miles are logged.

My point is, you better build-up the bottom end with forged internals, get a very good tune, and cross your fingers with TT, because some folks with TT have seen their engines go boom, even under part-throttle @4500 RPMs. I recall a forged *rebuild* went boom, too, lacking a good tune. APS seems to be a very comprehensive kit, but our engines need help coping with its power output.

It must be less expensive & less aggravating to build the engine up the "right" way the first time, rather than blow up an engine and start over... Whatever you decide to do, good luck with it.

gsxfury, APS TT kit and then in the summer get pistons, rods, and ARP head and main studs, that's pretty much all you need. Here's Pauter rods and Arias pistons compared to the stock rods and pistons, stocks are above.

BTW, proper break-in is going to help with the engine being able to handle the added power.

The APS TT kit address the three main problem area's fuel, boost spike's and safe maps for 91 octane with there engine management and lastly crank sensor scatter problem all out of the box.

I like the APS kit. Even Peter from APS himself will tell you that anything beyond 400whp for daily driving is entering the realm of danger zone, without building the bottom end.

But you certainly shouldnt have any problem at reasonable boost levels on the stock block....unlike the problems with the Greddy kit...even at stock boost.

Awesome, congrats! I love reading reviews on new FI installs, it's the closest I can get to one right now.

It's still too early to make an informed statement on this topic. There just aren't that many installed and running for any length of time. I've had mine in for a little over a month and 1,000 miles and no blown engine. Dynoed 404 HP.
