Why don't you just purchase Carrillo or Crower rods? Pauter rods seem like a bit of overkill for what you're running...

This seems to be a familiar problem with all the guys doing build-ups right now.

Very interesting... Carrillo agrees... They told me directly that their A-Beam are weak and can't handle 550+whp... They recommend the H-beam... But I've spoken to three Carrillo dealers and they all claim that the A-Beam will work fine and the Carrillo doesn't like to quote HP figures for their rods...

That is exactly what Carrillo told us when we spoke with them at SEMA, I'd really like to know who at Carrillo is now saying only up to 550 now.

At SEMA Carrillo said that the A-beam was perfect for our needs and that the H-beams were only really needed in high rpm (+10,000) high duration applications. The specifically mentioned naturally aspirated cars that stay high in the revs in situations like circuit racing.

Howdy,
JoeNismo is selling a set of Pauter rods and some other engine components in the classifieds. See here, and good luck...

Cindy at Carrillo gave me this information after several discussions within the Carrillo organization... It's very interesting that many of their dealers are not of the same understanding but that is the official Carrillo statement and that's what we're going to print with in the Connecting Rods review that I'm currently writing for a Pub... We did a good amount of research and the only two companies that are confident in 600+whp for their rods are Pauter and Crower... Carrillo only recommends their H-Beam for high HP.

I believe JoeNismo only wants to sell everything together as a package deal.

Well I'm sure the dealers are not of the same understanding because that is not at all what Carrillo has said in the past. I'll try to get some straight answers from them on Monday.

If you read Carillos sales brochure that they supply to dealers, and customers. It clearly states the the A-Beam is designed for more economical and lower power needs...not for high HP F/I. Carillo has been making the H-Beams for years and years...its an awesome rod, but pricey. So very recently, they developed the A-Beam for a lower price point customer, that doesnt need a super heavy duty rod. If I was building an N/A car, I would do A-Beam, but there is no way I would put an A-Beam into a 600whp plus 350Z. H-Beams rock..but like I said..they are around $1500/set, and constantly backordered. I think some dealers are pushing the A-Beams becuase they are more readily availible, and the lower price point is easy to sell customers. It's hard to sell H-Beams and Pauter rods when they are never in stock!!!

Oh, I have heard from several tuners in the Honda world, that the Crower rods need machining and TLC out of the box. They just look rough. Also, Kyle from SGP Racing told me that the Crower rods from the VQ need to be notched to clear the cylinder.
