Default Head gaskets for FI

I'm in the midst of buttoning up my LB for up to ~20 psi operation. Most builders have used the OEM head gaskests to date.

Cometic now sells VQ35 head gaskets (OEM replacements).

Part numbers:
C4345-030 (left) and C4361-030 (right) about $86 per side.

Specs:
Layered Stainless Steel, 96mm bore and .030” thick.

Any opinions as to whether these would be a better choice for a low comp TT setup over OEM?

Cometic would have been my first choice...just based on the amount of pressure you plan to run...good choice..

Doesn't NISMO make one for VQ35 ?

I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.

Yes they do, but they are much more expensive when compared to OEM and Cometic. With Nismo , you definately pay more for what you get , and what you get isn't useually the best available.

It depends on how much power you're going to be pushing.

I'm leaving mine stock, not going to go over 450whp.

I am targeting ~650rwhp on race gas and ~550rwhp on pump.
The OEMs are prolley fine, but if someone has direct experience with Cometics I'd like to hear.

Personally, I am using the stock head gasket. Both in the 350Z and 300zx world, people are making close to 1000whp on the stock gasket. I'd rather go with what's proven, rather than risk a newly designed head gasket.

My buddy has an H22 civic transplant that I sold him 2 years ago. He blew the car up...rebuilt it....and used a Cometic headgasket.
Within 2000 miles at 12 lbs of boost the headgasket let go. It actually burned away and ended up opening 2 bores into each other. He switched to a stock Honda gasket and had a full summer and 10000 miles with no problems. Just my 2c.

yup...

we have 2 gasket kits availble from Nissan. One we made.

1 = Complete engine gasket kit
2 = Valve re-grind kit (includes head gaskets)
3 = Camshaft install kit (does not include head gasket)

Here is a photo of the full engine gasket kit...

The full engine gasket kit does NOT include the rear oil seal... The rear is only avialble as this product...

Jason, I spoke to Courtesy Nissan, they said the gasket manifest shows that the kit I bought included the rear main seal. He said it was totally complete, and nothing would be misssing, except for a tube of liquid gasket stuff that you'll need to reattached the oil pans, and timing covers.

I dont see the rear main seal in your picture, so now I a bit confused. Nissan parts list shows it as included. It was the first item on the list.

Most gasket kits come with the main seals... This one does not...

This is the rear main seal... The seal is not avialble seperately from this metal piece...

There are now new gaskets from NISSAN for the VQ35DE!

They started to be used in the 9/2004 and up 350z's including all models and 2005 Track & 35th Anniversary...

I am going to order a set to see if I can figure out the differences between these and the previous build date gaskets...

Here is a link to the gaskets...

http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...roducts_id=708

http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...roducts_id=709

I also now have the part numbers for the new Pistons, Rods, Crankshaft, Valve Springs, Valve REtainers, Camshafts, VTC's and some other bits on our web site.

I am going to try to order a set of new pistons, rods, a new crank to see if I can find out what the differences are...

I think it is most realistic for people to install the bottom end off the new VQ35 parts... rather then go for the complete valve train re-build as well... Not sure how to get the VTC to work yet with the rest of everything else... Havent gotten to figuring out whats going on with the harness now...

Here is a link to all teh 2005 trak parts...
