Just recieved the new APS Oil pan. Very nice quality.

 

does it come with all the hardware including drain plug and plugs for the oil return ports for those who are NA? I just installed one on a customers car with the turbo kit... nice piece indeed, came with all the hardware in the turbo kit.

I assume you will have to fashion some new return lines and fittings for the Greddy TT? Correct? If so, lemme know how that goes, becuase I really like this oil pan, but I was a little concerned with how the oil will drain with the Greddy TT's, and the different direction of drainage flow.

 

Yeah it came with all of the hardware. Including a spacer for the oil siphon tube.

Yeah, I will need to drill into that bad boy for my GReddy oil lines.

On the top, it has two threaded holes for the APS oil lines. I was thinking that you can run new oil lines, and place a fitting on the lines so you dont have to drill into that beautiful APS oil pan.

 

Very good point. To be honest, I hadn't even looked at it that close. I thought those holes were involved in mounting the oil pan. Once again, thanks.

The oil pan came with a full illustrated booklet. I guess I should read it, hehe.

 

go to honda-tech, and search under oil line kits, there is a company that posts on there that sell some nice oil return kits for a good price, like 100$ for a set of 2, with nice steel braided hoses and some kind of new fittings.

yeah PM flamenco-t .. he'll give you any fitting size and any SS line length and put it together for you as a return line kit. good guy to deal with.

better than the rubber stuff you get with the turbo kits..

After the APS deeper oil pan is installed remember that when checking oil level the dip stick won't read accurately. If you fill oil up to the stock recommended level you will have over filled the crankcase.

 

So, how do you know how much oil to add? Where would the right level be on the dip stick? Would you just do an oil change and add the recommend capacity + 1.25qts? But, there is always residual oil left in the engine during the oil change??

I usually add 4.5qt for an oil and filter change. I would just add whatever the extra capacity is to that number. Is it 1qt extra?? or 1.25qt?

 

I was told to put enough oil in so the dip stick registers at the low level. I have the APS TT kit.

 

Since you have the APS TT kit, its the exact same oil pan right?
