Default Greddy Type RS Blow Off Valve?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has actually heard the output sound of this blow off yet? Does it sound anything like it's predecessor? IMO the best sounding i think still is the HKS but still open minded for other options.

Plus 20 for insurance? So you're paying 177 total?

If thats your total, I could have got it for you even cheaper than that.
Don't forget, you'll need a aluminum flange too.

going deep - sent you a pm.

Does anyone know what this BOV is rated to as far as psi? I could not find it anywhere. I have the Greddy Type S right now, and I am 99% sure they use the same flange. Can anyone verify?

It appears to be 3mm larger than the Type S, but still smaller than the Type R. Will the added 3mm allow this to handle 20psi? I have read alot on this BOV, but cannot find anything that rates it based on boost pressure.

Okay, here is the scoop on the Type S bov from GReddy. I actually had to talk to a couple of different persons because the bov is pretty new. There was a little confusion as far as psi ratings and hp ratings. Followed by more discussion of forged engines running up to possibly 20 or more psi. They basically said the ratings are done by hp and not psi. So, the Type RS will definately be able to handle more hp than the Type S and the Type S is being discontinued. He did mention that the next step up would be of course the Type R and as a last resort for some type of super monster car would be the Type R with a stiff spring. Although he gave me hp ratings and I will list them below, he mentioned that these are "really safe" guidelines and the Type RS should be good up to 550whp. And remember, the Type S and Type RS can be adjusted with the nut right on the top.
So, my recommendation for those guys building up their engine with forged internals would be to at the very least step up to the type RS if you have a type S.

These numbers are straight from GReddy.
Type S....good for around 350rwhp
Type RS...good for around 450rwhp
Type R.....good for around >450rwhp
Type R with the stiff spring....>550rwhp

BTW, I can still get anyone the sweet deal of 165shipped, as long as they are still in stock. If you need a flange, I can get that too.

GoingDeep is right. Oftentimes, the manufacturers willl underate their BOV's. I have personally seen 450whp cars running the type S. So the Type RS should be adequate for most of our needs.

The Type S, R, and RS all use the same flange.

This BOV sounds alot like the HKS SSQV but just a little softer.

RS most likely. R not sure if you could produce enough psi for the stock spring to "compact" itself for the Blow off.

I am certain the type R is for 10lbs and over, not sure of the RS's lowest rated pressure.

you can use it yes. but it would be useless to use it. All you will get out of it is the sound.

I don't think it would be useless. Eventhough a supercharger's turbine is running off belts, you will still be relieving that pressure in between shifts. So, the turbine won't be trying to force more air down an intake pipe with a closed throttle body. So, you are actually protecting your turbine with the bov relieving pressure.

true, but I am not so sure that the turbine would be producing enough psi to actually "damage" the unit. never-the-less it does relieve the pressure between shifts.

When you compare the price of a bov and the cost (worst case here) of replacing or rebuilding a turbine due to bad bearings or somethin, there is no comparison. The TT and SC world is not a cheap one and no place to take short cuts due to assumptions. I know some SC kits have the 9lb pulley and they probably see upwards of 8-9psi. Why risk your precious turbine for something that costs less than 200 bucks?
