Default Random build stuff

My TT build has finally begun and I believe I'm the first APS TT G35 coupe (besides APS themselves).

First off, I finally got to the bottom of my 'blown engine' issues I had with the Procharger. We found at least two damaged pistons.

And here are a few shots of my naked car...

I'm putting in 8.5:1 Arias Pistons, Pauter rods, Head and main studs, APS TT, APS exhaust with test pipes, custom cams, and valve springs. I'm aiming for 510whp on pump gas.

I'm planning on having the front bumper custom molded for the FMIC.

K, are you going with standard bore pistons? 8.5:1 with Arias is a standard bore, and I would recommend going with the 8.6:1 overbore. The stock cylinders, even on a brand new engine, are not uniform. If you put a stock bore pistons in your engine, you will likely end up with some piston slap.

They are 8.5:1 with a .020" overbore. I'm not very impressed with Arias right now....

I ordered a custom 9.1:1 (0.020" overbore) from then in the group buy (for my supercharger). I sent them back for the oil squirter issue and asked them to lower it to 8.5:1. After about a month I called them and they said they needed an engineer to figure out how to modify the piston. I then told them to ship them back untouched and they arrived a few days later completely machined. So, now I have NO idea what I really have. I don't think they touched my pistons, I think they sent me different ones. I have to have my machine guy check all that out before we go too far.

Its a little late in the game now though to be worrying about piston sizes...... I need this car back together by May 20th.

Why are you doing custom cams? Just wondering...

Congrats though!

Cloudy, the APS kit uses one FMIC, therefore, the flow isn't going to be very efficient at all with the stock G35 bumper.

I've seen really good results with the JWT cams and the APS cams so I knew I wanted to get something. Ted at Scott Performance (where I bought all the APS stuff) has a custom grind that he has had really good results with. From what I think he told me they are ground specifically for the APS TT.

Yeah, without a molded front bumper my FMIC would choke!

Ahh, I was going to say. I talked to Kyle @ SGP Racing about getting custom cams made, because I want to make up for turbo lag with a good bottom-end cam, he suggested Tomei 268's.

Ted told me that with these cams I'll run out of gearing before I run out of power. He said it makes power up to close to 7,000 RPM with the cams and exhaust.

They probably modified the skirts, and sent them back with the same CR as before. I am running 9.0:1 with my TT.

I'll contact Arias and find out what they did with your pistons, or you can shoot me an email. sharif@forgedinternals.com

I know, but i would like to see the look on some guys face thinking the car is stock when it just blows the door of em . You could cut out the little square box for where the plate would cover! idk i just like the sleeper look on the G... but if i were you, and gettn a custom bumper, i would get the Greddy.

When I say custom I mean I bought a 2nd stock bumper and I have a body guy who is going to modify it exactly how I want it. The Greddy (imo) looks terrible. Every bumper out for the G is super aggressive, and its just not an aggressive car. The bumpers don't flow with the cars lines, and thats what is important. I'm basically just going to cut a big hole in the front bumper and then have him trim it in. Then, I'm going to fill in the stock valances and maybe make two small channels for air to flow through. It should look pretty good when its done, and my body guy is really, really good.

That seems like it would cost ALOT more to do, but if u have the money, go for it.
Just pray to god that noone backs up into your bumper, i think i would commit murder after all that if they did that. lol

Kevin, here is Aria's response. They lower the compression for you, and corrected the squirters..so you should be good to go!

"Sharif,

The Kevin Pierson pistons have been modified for the lower compression and fixed as far as the squirter issue goes. We needed to make a completely different program to cut the dishes in those pistons as well as modify the bottoms of the pistons to be able to hold them on the machine without damaging them. I told Kevin that we would modify them for free if he paid for the shipping back to us and the shipping to return the pistons to him. That was approx two months before he actually sent them back to us for re-work so I figured then that he was not in that much of a hurry to get them back plus we could take our time and do the modifications correctly. According to the tracking number the pistons were received and signed for by Pierson on 3/24/2005. Tracking number: 1Z 977 233 A8 4360 xxx x"

Run out of gearing? What did he mean by that? I don't think cams are necessary at all for 500whp on an APS TT setup.

meaning this will make power to the theoretical 180mph "redline" in the car ... drag racing sort of term ...

like those stangs that run 4.56's, pull 1.3x 60ft times, but run out of gear before the end of the track. ...stoplight power ... the opposite of supras

Ok, Kevin now who's this body guy? Is it a regular body shop in your area or custom shop? I might have to come down to see all this work and have your guys do everything!

the infamous 'body guy.' Check out www.KPtechnologies.com/pictures

Click on any link that starts with a 72. They are all pics of my Dads 565cu in big block in his 72 Pontiac. Even in pictures the body work is amazing.... Easily as straight as my G and the paint looks better.
