fuel fitting removal-ahhh!
ive removed everything pertaining to my vortech, but for the life of me, i cant undo the fuel fitting that connects to the factory fuel lines, its got a straight metal tube with a ring that slides in and locks together by prongs, i cant seem to get anything in there to release the prongs, anybody got any suggestions. there is a little green piece of plastic that seems to slide down in there but i cant get it to work. somebody please give me some relief.
i ewmoved this kit from a customers car and I had to cut that fitting to get it off... Maybe I am stupid, but it really doesnt look like the person who designed it ever considered that it might need to be removed.
BTW dont make any sparks if you cut it

I went to sears a while back when i was getting other parts and it looked like they had a tool to remove them.... it said it works on all chevy and ford quick release fuel systems however... so im not sure if it will work on our cars... there were about 6 or 7 different sizes though so maybe....

I just did some pinching, twisting, pulling, and a gentle massage with a flat head screw driver...and it came off.
There is a special tool to do this, but we didnt have the right size.

gq, you obviously arent talking about the same connection i am, the factory one snaps apart easily, the vortech one, on the other hand, has a piece on the inside that looks like a star, once the fuel line pops in, it isnt coming out unless you use the special tool, or my special tool, a pair of sharp cutters.

LOL...OK..yeah...sorry...thought you were talking about the stock piece.
its a universal "quick release connector" i bought one at advance auto parts for 10$. its the piece on the fuel lines supplied with the vortech that hooks into the factory lines.
Does anyone have a picture of this, because when I went to get a "universal release connector" they gave me a little plastic piece, and after re-reading this post it doesnt sound like that is it
The tool you need is called a springlock 5/16" fuel fitting disconnect. Makes it very easy to take it off. Cost me $15.
Here is a picture of a cheap one. http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/otc6509.html
