Default shielded crank angle sensor?

i know what it is, i know what it does. i even had mine fail out of town! the factory replaced it with the upgrade. but just wanting to double check, what part are they trying to shield. it is in a place that not much heat can get to the sensor, so what is being shielded? there is a rubberized shield around the wires on mine but don't see anything else really. did they really do the swap or is that the swap? any pics? thanks

the shielding everyone is speaking of is not a shield as in the sense you are thinking. Its not like a heat shield or anything. Its a specific type of wire that has internal shielding to protect it from electrical interference.

I am not sure what exactly the dealer did with you car, but I have never heard of a factory recall on any related wiring. I suspect its the crank trigger itself that was replaced, as there was a recall on that for some 350z.
