Default Vortech question.

I am going to be changing out my stock pulley to a 3.12 pulley this week and after going through the posts, I see that there have been no real issues in doing this but wanted to know what you guys who have done it would reccommend to upgrade if anything at all. I was thinking maybe the injectors may need to be upsized to 440? or would the stock ones still be capable of feeding the higher psi without going near 90% IDC.
Would I be getting 9.5psi instead of the stock 8psi.

Wouldn't the SS box be able to be re-tuned when I take it to the dyno. I didn't think I need another piggy back system.

I have the 3.12 and do not have upgraded injectors....no problems so far though AAM recommends I dont take it above 6k rmp....leans out up top, not enough fuel but i have been okay so far....im putting in 550's soon and doing the 2.87 in about 2 montths or so....

im thinking of doing the upgrade myself as well. would doing the injectors and leaving the fuel system as is be worth it or should you do both? Also, when you do the 9 lb pulley, does it increase boost by 1psi across the board? For example im at 5psi at 5000 rpm so would i be at 6 psi at 5000 with the 3.12 pulley. I see why people want more boost out of the vortech, its just so lacking at low rpm, its like driving a vtech g35 now.

You shouldnt need new injectors and fuel system . Any one that has a shop tell them that they can not get enough fuel up top with the 3.12 pulley on , is trying to sell them more parts . They should go to a new shop . The 3.12 pulley is NOT GOING TO OVER stress the fuel system .
The Split Second box HAS PLENTY OF ROOM LEFT TO TUNE THE 3.12 pulley . There are guys running the 2.87 pulley and making 11psi with the stock fuel system .
Im going to go on a rant because there is a shop , or shops . That are ripping people off . I been PMed several times from good guys on this Forum asking about the fuel system not being able to get enough fuel with the 3.12 pulley on . ITS BULL CHIT .The shop is flashing thier ECU for the Vortech and NOT using the Split Second Piggyback to tune the car [ with out telling the customer that first ] Then coming back to the customer and telling them they are lean up top and they need more parts [ fuel pump , fuel injectors and alike ]
The SHOP now has the customer by the ***** , because there ECU is flashed for the FI they have and cant go any where else to get it tuned RIGHT . The guys that have had this problem should go back to this shop and demand that thier ECU be flashed back and retuned with the Split Second piggyback . If the stock ECU cant be flashed to keep up with the fuel needs , than it shouldnt be done and it should be tuned with the piggyback only . The Split Second is a good piggyback if tuned with the right support tools [OBDII ]
With the stock Vortech fuel and timing maps.....your running rich as hell and plenty of timing being pulled . 1 to1 1/2 more pounds of boost isnt going to over tax the fuel system .

So its safe to assume the extra psi will be across the rpm board then?

I want to do this mod soo bad but with all the new mods Im a bit freaked! Im running the new Kinetix IM, Crawford cats, Alphawerks headers, Greddy evo2 exhaust. I think with a good tune Ill be close to 400rwhp. Can the stock rails and all my mods handle the new pulley?

I dont see whats wrong with having extra bandwidth in the fuel system especially if your going to "crank it up" or have other mods that might lean you out. I'd rather be safe then find out afterwards that it was fuel starved. How do you control the injectors though? Do you need eManage or something?

I am very close to going with the Vortech but I am considering a tuner kit with Walbro pump and injectors. Does the Technosquare reflash manage the timing and injector control for these kits without the SS box?

Yes your ECU can be flashed for the bigger injectors and Ive been told by TS 11psi of boost . But as I stated earlier . The shop or shops that are flashing the ECU are having [ they say ] trouble getting enough fuel up top . I dont know if this would be the case with bigger injectors and a return system . I have mine flashed for the injectors alone and I tune with the SS box . I think this is the best way to go , as it lets you or your LOCAL shop tune the car if you change any thing . Im not a fan of sending my ECU back and forth 4 or 5 times to get it right . Then doing that all over again when I change something.....

booger, just to let you know I just came back from my friends shop and we installed the 9lb pulley and the rest of my exhaust system ..ie crawford HF cats, there is a noticble difference even though I did not get on it and I will not either till the last of my mod arrives (Kinetix IM) then I will get it tuned. Like you I do not like going back and forth having the SS boxed retuned after each mod. One thing I know for sure is I need the limted flash pretty soon as I keep hitting the rev limiter in 2nd and 3rd gear.
