Default Zeitronix Engine Speed Input

Hi all,

I'll be wiring my Zeitronic Unit this weekend. I have it all figured out, except one thing. I'm not sure where to get the RPM/Engine Speed signal from. The Infiniti Manual says that the "ECM provides an engine speed signal to the tachometer with CAN communication line." The CAN communication line is terminal #86 on the ECU (Red wire). Is that the correct wire or should I try to use the tachometer input or something? What did you guys use for the RPM input to the Zeitronix box?

Thanks a lot for any hellp you can offer!

Innovate Motorsports had a post: http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40388 which indicated ECU Harness Terminal #62 (RPM Signal - Ignition Coil Cyl#1) Yellow/Red.

I started last night. Everything should go fine. I found the 3 wires that I wanted (TPS, knock and PRM). I can post more info if you wish later on...

The link I posted in my first post to your thread. I am not a member of G35driver, so could not get in to verify.

Yep, this is where I have mine connected as was recommended by Zeitronix.

Just curious. How did you connect to that wire? Did you cut the wire and back together adding another wire? Or just a tap...

Thanks!

Why would you use a coil signal over a crank signal? Remember that your coil signal can be inaccuarate if the ECU pulls timing. The crank signal is ALWAYS accuarate and can NOT be changed under any circumstance.

I wonder if the unit will only accept a 1 pulse per revolution signal?

I think [1 ] pulse per revolution would be correct . You have to set the cyl. at [1 ] instead of [6 ] on the Zietronics

If it has a 6 cylinder select on it I would definately go with the crank wire. It is a more accurate representation of the RPM signal....

I would email Zietronic's to see if it would work that way . To make sure

I connected the user input (#12 wire) of the Zeitronix to ECU pin #15 (white), which is the knock sensor. I'll see tomorow what kind of values I get once I connect it to my laptop.

Later,

Later,
awesome -
I was going to go with the plx r-500 becuase of it's knock sensor capability. The difficulting in getting my grubby fat hands on one and the $150 premium in price persuaded me to run the zeitronix unit. It would be an unexpected surprise if the zeitronix had the capability as well.
