Default Questions to those who installed their APS TT

1. I will install the kit myself and I am debating if I should take the engine out or not. I have an engine crane, but no hoist/lift. Is it easier to get the engine out from the top or the bottom? GRD recommended me to install the kit with the engine out (from the bottom) and after reading several posts lately, I'm starting to wonder if I shouln't follow their advise.

2. Where exactly would be the best location on the driver's side exhaust manifold to drill a hole for the EGT sensor. Of course, I want it out of the way of potential interference. I would like to do that before bolting down the manifold and I imagine that I'll have to feed it through the heat sheild too. Any feedback on precise location is appreciated.

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated al always...

1.Many guys have recently pulled their motors by taking the front end off the car.....unbolting from the tranny and then swinging the engine straight out the front. This gives you the most room and can be done at jack stand height. Seems to be the most effective method with minimal equipment at your disposal.

2. APS has that downpipe off of the turbo that might be a good spot....or on one of the cast manifolds just beneath the coolant pipe.

I have about finsihed the install and it would definitely be easier to have pulled the motor, but still not easy. The install is actually easier than I had expected. Minimal issues beyond dropping a bolt and spending some time to find it.

We JUST finished the install in the garage, no motor coming out. I think it would have been easier to pull the motor, and if you have the capability I would recommend it. It's definitely not easy, there are some parts of the install where you get stuck for a while...mainly one nut on each turbo was very difficult.

Pull the motor if you can. Especially if you're doing it solo like I did.
