Default Need help with T-netics install....

Well I am doing the install my self and I have run into a slight problen and was hoping someone familiar with this kit can help me out. The problem I have is the compressor discharge (what leads to piping connected to the intercooler) is hitting the inner fender well. Well this causes the compressor intake (connects to the air intake with air filter on it) not to line up with the whole the air intake pipe goes through in the front. Now I have poked, prodded, loosened, pushed, pulled, and everything you can think of and still cant make it work. I have tons of clearance in between the frame rail and the turbo, its just that damn compressor disgarge hitting the inner wheel well, and it is metal. I dont want to hack the car, I want the install to look professinal. What do I need to do? Is there a way to loosen bolts on the compressor side and rotate it with out the turbine side rotating with it? Sorry if my terminology is not correct......learning as I go here.

The compressor discharge outlet is VERY close to the frame right there. I know that you CAN rotoate the turbine, bearing housing, and compressor independently. Actually I think my installed did have to slightly tap in part of the frame right there, but not very much at all. It was a very tight fit but he didn't have to rotate the compressor at all to my knowledge.

I'm not sure of the details on rotating the bearing housing, you might want to get in contact with MIAPLAYA or Brad from Turbonetics to see if they can give you the details on rotating it.

Good luck with it, as you can see its a VERY tight fitting kit, but once you get it all in place it should be fine.

When you say "The compressor discharge outlet is VERY close to the frame right there" are you refering to the inner wheel well? I tried to bend it by clamping down on it with a rag(no scratches lol) and vice grips but noticed the whole fender actually startng to flex along with the head light so I stoped before I bent all that out of whack, hopefully I didnt. I guess I'll find out at the end when I put the bumper cover back on.

Yeah I'm talking about the inner wheel well. Have patience and don't start altering things drastically. Everything is TIGHT but it does fit.

You CAN rotate the compressor, bearing housing, and turbine independently. Check your PM's we should be able to get you some help.

Hey bro I'm trying to get a hold of Brad right now. I know he said that each section will rotate independentally of each other. Trying to get the info now on what to loosen for just the compressor housing to spin,

Mine was an extremely tight fit as well. I was barely able to cram the hose fitting onto the compressor discharge and get the band clamp on. Because of this, I'm a bit worried about the fitting rubbing against the body and causing damage to itself. Let us know what you end up doing to address this because I plan on doing some adjusting when I install the modified downpipe.

I really don't think clocking the compressor housing would help in this situation. The whole thing needs to move toward the back of the car a little to give the needed clearance. Anyway, any tips you come up with would be appreciated.

O.K., I figured it out! There are 6 bolts on the back of the compressor housing that needs to be loosened and the you can rotate the compressor housing. Its as simple as that.

i just finished this install myself and ran into that same problem 1 2. thats actually not part of the frame but part of the headlight bracket. what i did was cut a small section out of it just far enough that the discharge fit in there with a clamp on it and no rubbing. if you were to cut completely through it you might have problems but doing it the way i did hasnt weakended the bracket at all, as you found out when trying to bend it, its a strong strong metal.

Well thats what I wanted to avoid was cutting it. I wanted people to look at my kit after install and say or ask me "Hey that looks really good, who did your install?" I am a liitle upset about one of my intake pipes. The one that you bolt the b.o.v. to, came in all scratched to hell. Now I wouldnt care if it was one of the pipes behind the bumper but no, it has to be the one that everyone looks at. And it's not on the bottom of the pipe its right on top!! SirJonny, so how is it running? Is it great or what?

its wild man. before the 350 i had a 94 300ZXtt that was modded to nearly 500whp but i sold it for the new blood. well it didnt take long for me to go through withdrawals. i got the 350 in december 02 and have been craving boost every since the new wore off it. finally i have it and im like a junkie getting his fix. BTW the cut i made is not even noticable, even if you stare at it, its smooth and just looks like nissan left that groove there for just that reason. so what do you have left? any questions? i started on my kit friday and finished it last night around midnight... and i did it that fast with no help at all. im so proud haha

I am pretty much all done. All I have left is to install the 2 vaccum lines, install the e.c.u., air filter, and add oil. I also have the front of the car still disassembled, but I figured I would leave it apart till after I start it and make sure I can check for leaks and what not. Oh and one more thing.....pray that I did everything right!!lol SirJonny, I only have a couple questions. What was your start up procedure? Cause I know there is a whole bunch of air in both the fuel lines and power sterring pump. Also how much smoke is to be expected at initial start up? Man, I am stuck at work and all this talking is really wanting me to get this thing going!!!

i didnt realize you were at work haha i was about to tell you to get your *** working! for startup turn the key on but dont crank the car and let it sit for a min or so.. that will pressurize the fuel system and get it ready.... added PS fluid before i started the car leaving the lid off and once i did i just turned the wheel both ways a few times and filled the fluid 2 the fill line. it smokes at 1st but its oil on and in the piping. if you get smoke under the hood dont panic... at least not til it catches on fire hahaha.
