You heard it...I lost...I can't always have win stories...you win some, you lose some...
I still do attest to beating the supercharged viper...
So, yesterday, we had a southwestracing meeting at a bar here in town (Elliot's-Jason's place-aka: Barzten) The turnout was great, lots of different cars, lots of food, etc, etc.
First of all, I want to openly apologize for all of the BS that was going back and forth between SPEEDDREAMTUNER (Ryan) and myself. I met Ryan yesterday face to face (first time actually exchanging names--i had met him months ago at the track for 2 seconds on a dark night, so i don't count that) and we were able to immediately address all of our beefs and get it resolved quick enough so we could go for a drive!
After taking Ryan for a drive in my car, he wanted me to run it against a known guy here who hasn't been beat...so we talked to the guy and he accepted the challenge. He drives a newer model Camaro with a 150 shot of nitrous, and I assume, some head work-possobly cams, exhaust, etc.
Keep in mind, this was on a closed course
-at no means, anybody try this at home...
We went from a 3 honk engaged 30 mile an hour roll (I was in second gear at about 4000rpm's)....the second I get to 2 1/2 honks-I think both of us jumped the gun (he may have jumped it a split second before me, but it's not an excuse)...
He immediatly jumped one car length on me, and the entire race was me basically trying to catch up...as he shifted, I pulled slightly to his side, but his montrous nitrous insane power ultimately pulled him ahead a car and a half or so by the finish. (BTW-he claims he dynoed at 550rwhp and 590tq)
Yesterday was a blast! Wanted to give the camaro props--we'll go again...
also, wanted to give Ryan props for being so cool and allowing us to settle this once and for all! So, now I just need to take Trip (owner of SPEEDDREAMS) for a ride

Now, the question is.....when are you going to let Ryan drive the car?

I think if you would've brake boosted then it would've been very close and you might've had him by just a little. In second gear at 4K rpm I am not sure if you're at 0psi yet, but I'm sure you're close to it. As you said he got the jump in the split second that it took you to build up boost. Race him again and this time brake boost to 0 or even to 1. I think that should put you guys even on the jump or you might get a slight jump.
Anyways, you can't win 'em all, but you can win most of them

If he dynoed at 550rwhp and 590tq, he most certainly had other stuff done (or fibbed on the size of shot). The LS1 dynos around 290-310 stock, and in the terms of shots an out of the box 150 shot is good for maybe 125 whp. He probably had a gear advantage as well.
All in all I think you did good. You should ask him to go with no juice, just to see for your sake the difference. Those LS1 motors like the nitrous.
From the sound of it, you are wanting to retune and then rematch . . .GOOD LUCK!

It's pretty spectacular when done correctly....and virtually eliminates turbo lag.
i just tought my buddy how to brake boost in his wrx today... ive known about it for a while and he always beats me from a roll so i told him to brake boost cuz i figured he always did it anyways in his car when he races... he didntknow wtf i was talking about. but he tried it built 17 pounds of boost and BAM its a real rush!
Fun was had by all at the RSW outing! I bailed at 9:30, but rumor has it that Ryan stayed until 11:30. I don't think he had any tunes scheduled fro today. Probably more rubber remaining in the parking lot at Elliott's than every before. "Cornbread" will need some new tires soon. Nice to see Todd and Ryan of Speed Dreams kiss and hug!

You hear that everyone..I expect to see some out of towners drive out here...Sharif from NC, CJ from Chicago, Ernie from CT, Gurgen from CA, Tim from TX...I'm calling you guys out!!!
Well all in all it was a awesome night. Jason always has such good BBQ's at his place. We're lucky we have such a good vocal, following locally... Thanks again J
And as stated both myself and Todd were able to talk some **** over. I knew there wasn't gonna be any problems, it's the net, **** get's misconstrude ALL the time... But it's all gravy!
So all in all the race was awesome to say the least. I'll be honest, I haven't seen much if anything beat this car. I mean seriously, some of the 700 plus Mustangs have gone at this guy and didn't fare as well. So that should say something, i'll admit, I didn't think Todds car could pull anywhere near that hard. Thanks again for the ride man. It was a blast. Good safe tune too! Hope to see ya around soon

Just get to the speed that you will be taking off from and then hold the brake and gas at the same time and keep it at that speed and let your boost load up to 0psi. When you start the race you just let go of the brake and slam the gas all the way and you will shoot out like a rocket! There won't be any lag (depending on how much boost you build up). The only bad part of brake boosting is that if you do it for a little longer then you will start smelling your brakes when they start to burn a little.
I'm not sure how much brake boosting your built motor can handle, but on a stock motor I wouldn't suggest to go over 0psi. Anything over that puts too much of a load on the motor imo, and it will kill the brakes!
btw, I don't suggest brake boosting from a stand still... if you brake boost from a standstill you will just spin your tires for about 5 minutes.
