Default problem with vortech/r4

was washing the car today, decided to wash the engine bay off, when i crank the car, it sputters, watching my a/f gauge reads out extremely rich, say around 10-12. when i rev it up, it sputters some more and the a/f goes up, instead of dropping down, and all the engine bay lights are on. check engine light, slip light, ect, i was in the process of putting on the bypass valve filter, it wouldn't fit with the way the bypass valve was pointing so i decided to take it off and point it the other direction, car would die as soon as it was cranked. so took the filter off and pointed the bypass valve the original direction. any ideas as to what it could be, is it possible that water could have gotten in the ss box while i washing it ? and water do to my car what im describing ? thanks.

If you can...Push it out into the sun and pop the hood . Take off the cover for the battery , so the sun can beat down on it . If you have an air compressor , try blowing every thing off .

It's possible you have shorted the SS box out . Put a fan on the battery compartment over night , it may just take time to dry it all out . Lets hope so . Let us know

ok, i hooked it back up after reading that it only takes 30 min for the ecu reset. car would not stay cranked after this, which was different than what it was doing before. loaded the fuel/timing map back to the ss box and car is running normal. just letting everyone know it's all good for now, haven't driven the car yet, i'll get back to you tomorrow.

ok, got in the car this morning, cranked it up, it died !!!, got the laptop back out, uploaded the map again, car seems to be running fine now, havne't driven it yet, just reving up the engine. any idea what would make the car lose the map overnight ? also would the map have anything to do with the car not staying cranked even at idle ?

Possibility of damage to the programmable portion of the SS box..When it shuts down the re-write disappears? Will it re-start right after a shut off?
