Default Need help sourcing a Greddy TT part before I drop in the engine.

Hey guys...

The engine is done and ready to go back in the car.... well all but one thing that I thought would be easy (but you know how the... "this should be simple" saying goes....)

I have one thing that is pretty much holding me up, besides getting someone to help me spot the engine as it goes back in... the dang oil return line for the turbos...

I talked to sharif and it seems i might be one of the only ones who has this on here.

On the driver side oil return line for the turbo there is an NPT brass/copper?? fitting connecting the oil lines to some other connectors L-connectors, T-connectors etc... anyway... for some reason I have an extender piece... most likely from the addition of the defi oil pressure sensor gauge.

Its a 1/8" extender about an inch and a half long... well the shop that installed my oil sensor not only destoyed it... but torqued it on there like it should never come off... but it was leaking a little oil so i wanted to replace it..

Well brought it to Home Depot to see if someone could remove it or if I could look for some other hoses.. because I have seen them there before... So I drop the part off at one of the counters where some guy says he can take it off... while I go look for another piece just in case...

Not only do i find out that they dont have any 1/8" fittings, but they are not designed for the same thing.... oh... and the guy who said he could remove it... sliced the piece off so all that is remaining is the thread stuck inside...

I dont know if its tappable, and im not sure if i want to mess with that....

Basically what it comes down to is I need another steel braided hose for the oil return line (1/8") and i want to make sure i get the right thing... since i found out they arent all the same...

Does anyone have any good suggestions on where to get that piece? Or if I should try tapping it? Thanks!

On another note... I was talking to Sharif... my defi oil pressure gauge I dont think sends anything to the ECU... Should it? Does the stock one send information to the ECU? Thanks again..

Yes, you need to leave the stock oil pressure sensor intact. The ECU monitors this... Hell, what DOESNT the ECU monitor?

so...

You are saying the defi Oil pressure gauge was a waste of money?

I'm thinking there may still be an oil pressure sensor now that I remember... does anyone know i dont have the engine near me...

From what I recall there is a separate harness for the oil pressure to the ecu..
I have a separate sensor that came with the DEFI gauge... I cant remember if I replaced the stock one because I replaced the gauge...

I was also suprised, Anthony, that your stock oil pressure sensor was MIA. At some point, that new sensor must be wired to the ECU, or else you would get CEL's gallore.

I really wish you luck. If it were me, I would just make new turbo oil lines (since the Greddy ones are suspect, IMHO), run a brand new fitting, and put your stock oil pressure sensor back.

Let me know if you need a spotter for that motor. I could use a workout!

+1 on making new turbo oil lines. I can send you a link to some SS braided lines if you want. (they include the fittings)
