hey guys,

sorry to seem like a noob, but I don't visit this subforum too often but I'm pretty much ready to cross the line into the FI world.

I have a 35th anniversary Z, so I know that the turbo kits on the market doesnt work with my engine and ECU. Sorry if this has been discussed but I couldnt find anything with searching, but what exactly would the APS ST kit need to be modified to fit into my engine bay and run properly? Thanks for any help.

so it would fit and run right away?? I thought all the turbo kits on the market are for the 287hp engine? Thats why non of the 300hp engine Z's have turbos yet?

As far as i know there isnt a difference between the installation on either engine. Maybe someone else can chime in on this too.

As far as I know the only differences in the 35th engine relate to variable exhuast valve timing, and other minor engine changes.

The block is the same, and that is where they trubo manifold(s) will go. I seriously doubt any other clearances have changed.

The chasis is the same. I have a 2005 350z and it went in fine.

(13HP isn't that hard to get.)

yes I know but I have heard from many that there are differences. Even if it fits, would it run right?

Call SGP Racing.....sgpracing.com. They have done an install on the new engine. I imagine talking to them would be better than any info you can get here unless another shop that has done the install wants to chime in.

i saw somewhere that aps put on a twins kit and got crazy high numbers compared to the 287 hp engine, something like 423 or so from just the turbo, no other mods, someome correct me if im wrong, i really can't remember which kit it was but i think it was the aps twin kit.

The 300hp engine responds very well, ZcarGarage did a 05 G35 with like 7.5psi of boost or something like that and it made 434 whp. So I assume the 350z should produce similar results. Plus it shifts at 7100(on the Tach)or 7k on the dyno so it pulls pretty good.

Thanks man. But in that thread, APS has yet to confirm that it works for the 300hp engine...

great info, but are the internals reliable enough for that kind of power?

No one knows that but I have an 03 with 44K miles on it and 16k of those are boosted at 440whp. Supposedly the 05's have stronger internals. So right now I don't think anyone can answer that. I'm going to be turning my boost up to 9.5 all the way to redline and maybe changing fuel maps.

Yes i am, I'm trying to take the necessary precautions to keep it safe.

if it is going to be a daily driven car i suggest going to the internals route also even though it is more expensive i think it is worth it for that extra security. although there will be no such thing as a 100 percent reliable f/i kit i personally beleive you can have a 99 percent reliability. ( half full type of guy?) anyways, the most important thing you can do to your car if you get a turbo or anytype or f/i is to get it tuned perfectly. take it to a reliable tuner that has done the done f/i kits on the vq35 before. and check how the people that have had their engines done by them are.

ok got an email back from Mark from SGP. For everyone's future reference, any turbo would fit and run fine with the 300hp engine, but just needs to be fine tuned for the application which SGP can do of course on their dyno.
