Default Best mod for power with Vortech

Quick question for you other Vortech owners out there. What was the best power adder besides smaller pulley? I currently have a h/f cats, y-pipe, to a single 3in exhaust with the stock pulley making 375 whp, 312 tq.

What would be the next best thing for power? I have 3.12 pulley but haven't installed it yet cause I have to drive 6 hours to CPRacing to get tuned.

I am thinking a plenum of some sort would be the next bet. Any suggestions?

There is no better answer than a smaller pulley. The next best thing would be cams.

After the Vortech, your best bet is Crawford Headers (you have the rest of the exhaust, but are still bottlenecked at the headers if you're running stock). You'll find differing opinions, but the Crawfords, IMO, are well worth the extra $s. Look at torque numbers... most Vortech users hit 310-320 peak tq. I'm running 340 (before and after the pulley upgrade) with the Crawfords.

After that, I'd highly recommend a lightweigh flywheel if you don't have one... JUN or JWT are the best balance of performance and maintaining normal drivability.

Cams are good, but I don't think as good as the two mods above. And they will take a LOT more (time or money) to get put in

i have vortech, dc sport headers (cheap), test pipes and borla td exhaust, making 400 wheel hp and 342 tq, also have the 3.12 pulley though. that should give u an idea of what mods will do for you.

Is that a real answer? This thread is about "belt driven" superchargers. A UR pulley kit will underdrive your SC and give you less power.

Don't get the UR pulleys, but the KJR Pulley would work good, it is the stock diameter and only weighs 2 lbs.

I guess it depends on what you use it for. There was an article in road in track speed. It had several twin turbo's and a vortech. The vortech took them all in the quarter, because the lack of that low end power acted as a sort of traction control. The driver even commented that the vortech car was the one that felt best to drive fast because of its predictability. I also believe the engine will last a little longer with a supercharger because it shouldn't be under full boost when driving easy or at cruising speeds. I like turbos as well, but don't bash superchargers.

I had a stock Vortech pulley with Crawford cats and alphawerks headers. I made 380hp and 300 TQ. Im sure I would have gone over 400 with the smaller pulley.

Guys...calm down. I do not understand why there is animosity towards each other. We all have Z's that we love and mod how we each want to mod. Leave the BS aside. This forum is here to help others, not bash on what is better. I love my Vortech, but if I had the funds, I would have gotten a TT just for the big hp numbers like Sharif is getting. The Vortech is just such a simple kit that you really cannot go wrong with it. Relax people. Enjoy life.
