If it was fine when you went into the car wash and it will not run right after ....Hmmm...could it be you got some thing wet ???? You may have sucked in some water in your intake also . Open the hood...let it dry out...reset the ECU and try it tomorrow

Does your VDC and Slip light come on? If it does it sounds like you got the 3 connectors by the battery wet. These are notorious for getting wet and giving TPS errors. Once it dries out clear the codes and all will be fine. It happened to me one time when the car was parked outside during a heavy rain.

This happened to me right after my vortech install. I took it to do it yourself pressure wash car wash. Car would die after about 2200 RPM and sputter and blow smoke. I limped home and let it sit overnight with battery disconnected. Still had the problem inthe morning. I had it towed to the installers. By the time they looked at it (a day or 2 later) it started right up they were not able to find anything wrong. My SS box was located in battery compartment so I am guessing either the SS box or other connector in that area was wet. I now avoid spraying water in that area and have not had problem since.

jpc350z : Hey hows your car running with the 3.12 pulley? what kind of #'s are you making with that pulley? I was exhausted after working 12 hours a day for the entire week i just wanted to relax and have a clean car... i even paid the extra to have it hand washed lol... never again.

kzanard : Yea i let my car sit overnight and it would rev out to 2500 Rpm and no further the next morning it was perfect.... i had the SES light on and took it to autozone to get the code and then cleared it. The code was rough idle and a few other things, since its cleared it hasnt come back and the car is running perfect to the best of my knowledge.. thank god

Thr car is stronger but won't see the full effect until they re-hook the air breather they forgot to re-install after the work I had them do with the pulley.. The car has been idling very poorly until I took it to the dealer to up the idle and they see the hose sitting there.. Will return to have the hose reconnected. It's a bytch to get to. Need to remove the wheel and remove the wheel well shroud..

Most likely a connection or the SS box got wet. I remember when I had my vortech installed they screwed up my engine wire harness plug and it wasn't water proof anymore, letting water leak down into where my ECU was. (Thanks alot Vortech, and before all you haters think i'm blaming the vortech product, I am not! It was installed by Vortech themselves, very imcompetent people there.)

Im not trying to start another war . Ive washed my car in a high preasure self wash and never had any problems and its a bummer you guys are having the problem . BUT...NARK...do you think that APS is handling the problems that people are having with the APS kits the right way ? Im sure the APS kits are well built , but it doesnt seem they have a very good bed side manner when it comes to helping people that are having big problems with thier kits . Seems thier biggest answer to most problems , is to buy more of thier stuff , or not reply at all . Thats COMPETENTS ????

To be completely honest Booer, I had quite a few problems with my APS kit, and they were more than helpful! It amazed me, even a few continents away, Peter was in constant e-mail with me with my authorized shop helping me along the entire way, and got all the kinks ironed out.

Now if you call Vortech for tech support, those guys are the most unhelpful idiots you'll ever speak to. This is from experience, maybe yours has been better.

I havent seen them help the self installer very much [ from posts ] and they are the guys that need it the most . As far as Vortech...your right . When you call , the tech's you talk to [ if you want to call them that ] ...dont know crap . And always put you on hold why they go talk to some one in the back . I think the designers of the kits are the only ones there that know what they are doing . You never get to speak to them though.

Hey. Anytime you poke a hole in a rubber sleeve and route wires DOWN (gravity works that way) into the glove box, well expect water to run/wick down the hole.

I used a boat load of clear silicone to seal off this hole and haven't had a drop of water run down to my ECU yet.

If this ever happens again, just remove the lower passenger console (us G35 guys just pull down that black plastic cover) and see if any water runs out. Odds are that water ran down the wire, got into the ECU and freaked your car out. Once dried, everything was ok.

Again, silicone will prevent this from happening and is only like $2.49 a tube at the local hardware store.

By your battery. There are a bunch of wires that go into your glove box through a black rubber sleeve. Whenever you have any sort of engine management or aftermarket stereo equipment that needs power they cut a hole in this rubber sleeve (remove your battery cover) route cables through the hole. This hole is where the water comes in.

Hey Nark,

I have the same problem. Ever since I had my new motor installed my car leaks water onto my passenger side floor board when ever it rains or I was my car. How did you fix this problem?

Gman, whatever you do, don't read any of my comments above that all answer the question you just asked.

Yeah I know.....I saw your responses after I posted that. I left my post up to see if Nark had a different fix than you did, like maybe, a new molding around the harness.

BTW, thanks for the idea of painting the plastic on the side view mirror. I had mine done and it looks great.
