So I guess it reads from somewhere else.
The computer actually reads the fuel sent through the injectors by the ecu. It works as a fuel metering computer, it is calibrated for the stock injectors. When we get the larger injectors it assumes that the amount of fuel sent through at a given time is what the stock injector is flowing, even though the largewr injector is flowing more. I don't know all the details, but that is how it was explained to me.

300 miles per tank is nutz. Have you looked into why your fuel economy is so low?

I base mine on the odometer/fuel ticket. I was getting around 27-29 on the computer but reall computations show 20.5 mpg. The other day tho it went to 0.1 mpg, so it is getting more accurate.

What if the ECU is reflashed for larger injectors, will the fuel computer show the correct MPG?

I was actually wondering the same thing. With any piggyback unit there is no way around it being wrong, but a reflash you would think would make it still work.

Hmmm I don't think so. Because the ECU has no way of knowing what size the injectors are. All the flash does is scale the fuel curve for larger injectors. My MPG gauge says I get 34.5 MPG averaging 80 MPH. There is no way that is right.

I thought the ECU reflash is more like a direct manipulation of the ECU codes, so where the old codes has 270cc injectors, now it's 440, so the computer should be able to calculate the MPG according to the new code?

Default Runnin a greddy Twin turbo

Daily driven, averaging 15 city, buy on the highway- your mileage will increase, given you stay at certain speeds. I have foung 75 to 78 mph is perfect getting the turbo's running the motor efficiently. I went from getting 28 highway, to 36-37 miles per gallon. Enjoy, and good luck. Keep in mind, superchargers run off a belt, using power from the motor always= decreased mileage, torque, and reliability. Turbo's use free power= exhaust gas, thus less strain on the motor when daily driving, and so on. JK

This is a nice thread to see. It shows that when done right the VQ is safe with FI.

Funny, cuz I get 27 on highway and 19 city. I have an "inefficient" supercharger. Where do you get your reliability comment? I think 15,000 miles with NO issues is reliable.

I think the problem is people get to ansie about making more power with their FI that they crank up the boost (even just a little) without the correct supporting mods to make it reliable. If done correctly, just about any car with a certain amount of power can be reliable.
