Talking Vortech Tuned at CPR

Well....I just got back from Charlotte.

Many thanks to the guys at CPR....they did a great job on my car!!!
Eric and Ralph are the masters.

I was kinda disappointed though......the 9lb pulleys are on backorder so I had to stick with my stock one.

Good thing though......they said "WOW....you got a good set up going here....
You dont NEED a smaller pulley!"

As I told them I wanted the "Safe....Conservitive Tune"....and not a "Squeeze it till it Bleeds" type tune........When we first started, the Vortech was making about 330 hp with it's pig rich out of the box program. After about 30 dynos and lots of tweaking....it got better.

At one point , I was in the 400 club....but we actually backed it down some for safety and it only made......

395.2 HP...@ 8 psi & 340 ft lb torque.

I'm happy with that!

If I may ask, what did they charge for the tune? You can PM me if you don't want to post it. TIA

I bought the kit from them in a group buy and installed it myself with a friends help.

They made us a package deal for tuning....$200.00!

I don't know what they charge normally....but they do GOOD work!

They do great work....I need to get back down there to finish my tune with the 3.12 sitting on my desk as a paper weight. Just leaning out my fuel I was able to get 375rwhp. They did not touch the timining due to some time constraints. Just need to get off work to get down there!!! Highly recommend those guys.

Cprace,, to get these #'s do you modify the stock Vortech timing or is it fuel mapping all the way?? or a combo??

Congrats on the tune. CPRace is really beginning to impress me with the countless number of posts Ive been seeing from Z owners who have been happy with their work. Great results on that pulley, Id love to see a video of a tuned s/c Z pulling through the gears.

Wow, great numbers. What interests me even more is if you compare the rwtq numbers against the rwtq numbers for the GReddy conducted within 3 days of each other on the same dyno.

These cars would be very closely matched in a rolling run situation from say 50-130 considering that gear changes would mean your RPMs would be between 4500 and 6300 during the run. The average rwtqs of the 2 cars are very close over that range.

Not dumping on anyone here, just think its interesting.

If I could only get my Vortech running, I'd be pleased!

here's an overlay of greddy vs vortech

greddy for being a TT with all that extra complexity and cost involved sure isn't THAT much better, but sure has a steeper curve and not as linear

orange is vortech, blue is greddy

For a base install and good tune, that seems to be the case - but I would say that the GReddy has more expandability to achieve higher numbers if you're looking for that (which I'm not personally)

yeah the greddy can net over 600whp and the vortech never will be able to do that

We tune both timing and fuel to get these numbers

I'm certainly no mechanic or expert here, but would the difference in transmissions and/or gearing and/or wheel size & weight have any impact on the results comparison above?

Curious since that's my dyno in the post.
