i just ordered the Control Unit II, version 2.0 from Adam@Z1 last week. should be here on Tuesday will install asap to check if this will really work with the CAN system and finally get Tach displayed on the HUD..

if so this would be the dopest mod i've done to the car...

my VSD currently displays Fuel Press, Speed, Oil Temp. And i just ordered an EGT sensor for it.. imho.. one stop diplays are the way to go to reduce clutter in the cockpit.

**UPDATE**

YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY!

after having the VSD for a year, i FINALLY GET THE TACH TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 its a little laggy, the digital display is a little slow, same RPM readout as the CMX100 from the OBD2 port... but freak yea!!!

Defi's New Control Unit II, Version 2.0 did the trick.
all you gotta do is set it to 1 cylinder operation, and bingo! i'm kinda pissed that the Version 1.0 didnt have single cylinder op, but oh well i can sell the box on Ebay for those that dont wana run the VSD..

woot woot! woot!

THANKS ADAM @ Z1 !!!!!

i will post pictures and video later...

yep - whomever said it is useless in the day time obviously has zero experience with this unit! We have set several track cars up with this and they work amazingly well in day or night

I've always like that mod of yours Cheston(other than your custom rollcage ). Very dope. I've got to get myself one soon.

Question, how many readouts can it disply at once?

you can get singular Imperial Units displayed, or if you choose, Metric Units, you can dual simultaneous display in a whole bunch of different combos. i.e. you can have fuel pressure use the analog bar and speed in digital, or EGT in analog and oil temp in digital.. etc..

if you buy the sensors, you can basically get everything you need, minus boost digitally displayed..

Why This is so cool:

Two Stage RPM/Shift light notification with audio warning tones.

As you will see on the Video, i have one rev limiter set at 3700. The Second one is set at 4000. As soon as you hit the first RPM warning, the Green light goes solid. 2nd warning, the red & green flashes and will maintain flashing.

then you see me goto Oil Temp mode. There i can monitor my oil temps while keeping an eye on the RPM, notice i rev up and hit the 2nd rev warning again, so whatever display that was being shown is now being superseded by the priority warning, in this case RPM, it will fash over to show what your warning value is at... this can come in handy when driving with MPH and RPM showing and something happens to oil or fuel then whatever is going bad will be displayed immediately with the flashing warning light.

Video shot with my MiniDV Sony DCR-HC40 in my carport.. plenty of sunshine and you can still see the #s clearly... maybe tonite i'll get some vids after dark.

That is one sweet unit Cheston - very visable. Too bad it can't be built in to keep the light fingered away.

Wow great, I've had the VSD concept for about a year now and still haven't fixed the tach display, I thought I was the only one with this problem...lol. I'm off to buy the new version 2.0 control unit

On hwy 5 or night canyon driving, where it's all dark I have to put a paper to cover it because it blinds me at times

really? do you have it on auto Dim setting? at night, mine is just fine..
i was thinking of sub-mounting it underneath the dash. but i gotta take apart the dash to check if there is space behind the steering column to mount it flush with the dash.. that would be dope..

if anyone is interested in Control Unit II, Version 1.0, let me know! cheap!! heheh

I had the same unit installed with my TTs back in August. I have a couple dumb questions ...how do you know if you have the version 1.0 unit? Can the unit be set to constantly scan through all the different displays, like egt, fuel pressure, oil temp, etc.?
