how many miles on it? maybe a bit on the rich side but looks ok. is that a carbon pile on the bottom of #1? do they all have this? did you do a comp check before disassembly? why you got it apart?

It was running real rich till I got the injectors flashed for the 550's . It only has about 3,000 miles on it . SGP is re-doing the block because of piston slap [ bad ] CP pistons 8.5 to1 this time . Sounded like a diesel pickup until it got above 90 degree's out with the Arias pistons...not the pistons fault . Mark at SGP is taking care of it...stand up guy !!!!!

the guy i have do my machine work bores all cylinders first then hones each cylinder to the respective piston that will go in that hole. so whenever i get my stuff back from him my pistons are numbers and sized for perfect clearance to that respective cylinder. i run the arias and have not heard any cold rattles from them. not even any other motors i have had him machine for me with forged pistons. not saying they did it wrong per say, but the final hone size needs to be perfect to not rattle forged pistons when cold.
good luck with it. shame to have to redo it.

I think I remember booger posting that the Arias pistons he used were stock bore and that was the cause of the piston slap.

The color looks totally normal. This is a bit of wash on that inside lip...shiny part...could be a little coolant leak. IIRC, these pistons were part of the original GB I did on the Arias pistons, and this particular set was standard bore. I know Booger already knows this...but for others...we strongly recommend the .020 over, so the machine shop can perfectly match the bore to the piston, and maintain exactly .003 inch piston to wall clearance.

How many miles were on the block when you put the pistons in?

What compression ratio were the pistons?

Were they high or low silicon forged pistons?
