APS TT people, we wanna know what you think of your kit...

Your torque is awesome, you've built your motor up, and dropped your compression, so that's always nice, and hence you get that torque, basically 150 over mine.

Why did you get upgraded actuators? What boost are you running? What exhaust are you running?

With the lower compression I need more fuel up top. More than the aps injectors could supply. I have peak boost at around 4200 rpms @ 14 psi, but taper off to 11 psi at redline due to the lack of fuel as the RPMs rise. True, most stock internal guys can get to the HP level I am at, but you won't have the torque I have without running near 550 whp.
This spring I may retune with the utec or new APS ems and fuel system to get the HP I left on the table, but after driving the car as is, I am happy with the power it has.

I was all set to get the S/C until I heard about how bad the altitude affected them. I would be happy with an SC giving me 320 at the wheels, but with the altitude affect, I would be spending almost 8 grand to get 265 at the wheels(A stock Z gets about 200 rwhp at Denver). So a 30% boost isn't bad, but why spend 8K for 65 more HP when for another couple thousand I could easily get 150 more at the wheels.
I have read somewhere that the APS TT starts boosting noticeably as low as 1500 - 1800 rpm's, can you feel it that low or not.
How much did you spend to get yours tuned. Do you have a Dyno sheet posted in the forum? I would like to see how low in the RPM range you see a boost in the torque on an APS TT system on stock internals.
After all the research I've done the APS TT is definitely my dream system, but I know tuning is so critical, and it doesn't look like there are any authorized shops within 1000 miles! I would go Turbonetics as it would definitely get me the power I need for less cost, but the turbo lag is too much. Some of the dynosheets I've seen on those look like it actually lowers the torque from stock below 2500 RPM.
Zivman, thanks for the post, that is an impressive sheet, are those numbers really at the flywheel or at the tires? Either way that has to be a blast to drive!

Did the kit come down from $7500?
Depending how far you want to go with exhaust, have you looked at the APS true dual 2.5" and they have a 3.5" coming soon, maybe available now...
Then if you go with gauges, you are looking at another 500-1000 easy, so "right" would include gauges (which I don't have myself)
Tuning is always the trick... you're gonna have about $300-500.00 in tuning easy if they are worth their salt.

APS TT: $7500
Clutch/Flywheel: $1200 is about middle of the line; it will get you a spec stage 2+ setup. JWT is cheaper, ATS is more expensive
Install: $2500-$3000
Upgrade exhaust: $1290 for the 2.5" + $200 for test pipes
Gauges: Vary alot but I would at least run a wideband - $400
Tune: maybe included in install, but if it's not, figure 200-400 bucks
For another 400 bucks, a koyo radiator wouldn't hurt
Thanks Alpine and Zivman. I don't know of any good tuners in Oregon. (Orygun). What does a nationally recognized tuner charge for a TT install? Zivman mentioned $2500 to $3000. Is that the physical install and tuning + dyno? I'm sorry, but I'm new to this arena.
I would stronly recommend my tuners, ED specifically (master mechanic), at Brainstorm Performance, Los angeles, 310-313-0088.
They have cars there from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY regularly...
I have a very good relationship with them, the owners (past and present) and can assure you it would be worth every effort to give it to them, and oregon isn't that far away.
Ask for Christian You can tell them Joe, with the Blue 350z sent you and they will take care of you from there.
I haven't checked on the install price lately, but I it's going to be near 3K and more with complete tuning, but I might be able to help you out with that.
Be sure to tell them what you want the car to do on a regular basis, and what the extremes might be.
If you are a casual driver, with an occasional urge, you can get more aggressive tuning, so you get a bigger kick when you do get on it.
if you are already an aggresive driver, you will want to go more conservative for more safety, although their own G35 with the twins is running with at least 10lbs maybe and doing very well and as this is a demo car, I'm sure it's getting pounded.
This motor didn't even get any break in time, stragiht from dealer, to shop, and twin turbos.
I am probably 80% of what is available, and safe for stock internals.
I could really go to about 90% without too much worry, but since I track, drag, pound it daily, and don' slow down when it's HOT outside, we went with that for me.
Again tuning is more than timing, and looking for tolerable A/F ratios.

I quality and certified install is going to run $2600-$3000. It is a VERY involved install, by oneone's standards. If a shop hasnt doing TT kits on a 350Z, it would find a shop that has.
