Default Walbro 255 won't fit my G!?

I got a G35 coupe with Greddy TT's and I bought a walbro 255 from a local speed shop. I'm an avid do it yourselfer and took on the job.

I pulled the rear seat off, unscrewed the 4 phillips head screws and pulled the fuel line from the fuel pump housing. Pulled the housing out of the tank and uninstalled the stock fuel pump from the housing.

I placed the 2 pumps side by side and the walbro looked to be just a few milimeters bigger than stock and I thought to myslef "it probably won't make a difference". However, when I dropped it in the sleeve and tried to cap it with the plastic clip, it wouldn't fit. I even tried forcing it in but it was just too big.

Now, i havn't heard of anyone with the same problem or maybe I havn't looked in the right place.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is there some modification that has to be made for it to fit right?

The speedshop says walbro hasn't officially released a fuel pump for the 350z or the G35 and it won't be till January 2006. To my knowledge, the fuel pump housing on the G is exactly the same as the Z33.

Please help

You have to trim the plastic housing a little with a dremel grinding tool to make it fit. You have to lengthen out the slots so the assembly can click back together with the longer pump assembly.

Thanks!
Are there any adverse effects to changing the fuel pump? Will the car idle different?

You just swap the pump, your car might idle a little richer at idle, since fuel pressure will be around 70psi. Usually, the stock ECU can compensate, and maintain a decent idle. If you do nothing else, the car will run richer across the board with the Walbro.
