I've been surfing this site for awhile now and I finally had to create a account so I could see about getting help with a tail light issue.
I have an 06 350z base model and I want to replace my tail lights due to bad seals and them filling with water. So, I ordered lights from a website that what advertised lights that would fit a 03-06 350z. When I went to hook them up, the plug was different. I was under the impression that 06's all had LED tail lights, but I guess that is not the case. I have seem on some sites that not all 06's have LEDs but it seems I couldn't find enough evidence to completely confirm this. I have attached a photo of the lights, the red is my OEM and the black one is the aftermarket one I purchased. Any help in explaining what I am misunderstanding would be greatly appreciated.
All '06> cars did have the LED tails. Not sure what you purchased - are they LED's, or not? If the ones you had on your car are OEM, and they're LED, I'd try and find the leak(s) and seal them. Never heard of the OEM lights leaking, though, so maybe they're not original to the car.
This was the one I purchased that was listed as LED ^
This is the one that came out of my 06. ^
I have seen this type of plug before when I search for OEM 06 tail lights. just Not sure what is up w/ the plug.
The new plug is a bulb base. Unscrew the black cap from your stock light. Follow the wires inside. Do they go to a bulb socket? Unplug the bulb and use that wire as an adapter.

Ok, checking on that now. will respond in a few minutes.
Yep. Thought maybe you had an oddball, but lights should be '03-'05 or '06+.
I'm just so confused. the OEMS are LEDS, but these are too, and yet they have different plugs. I've tried looking up other LED tail lights for 06 350z and from the ones were i can see the backs of them, they all have the same plug as the ones i've purchased. The hell, why is mine different!?!
Perhaps the ones you bought are an LED conversion for the earlier non-LED cars? As I said, I'd try and find out why your original, ones are leaking, and seal them up. No aftermarket light you'll find will ever look as nice.

At this point you might be right. Just frustrating, I like the aftermarket ones that are not all completely red.
Question, for those that do have the LED tail lights, are your plugs like my oem lights or the plugs on my oem lights just odd?
I'm still surprised your OEM lights are leaking. If they're not cracked, inspect the seams and try to seal them up.
If i can find the spot, once i drain all the water out (there is alot, been raining for about a week now here) should i use a hair dryer or something to get all the moisture out of it before sealing it?
Ah, welp, lesson learned, do not order from Andysautosport.com.
Thanks again so much I8acobra and Dcains so much for your help. I already have the tail lights repackaged and ready to ship them back out tomorrow once I get the label from Andys. Thanks again, Mods can close this thread whenever as my issue has been resolved thanks to some awesome members.

Sounds like a good idea. Just don't use super glue, or any other cyanoacrylate glue, as it will fog the plastic.
