Question I Want to go back to stock exhaust

The car is tuned in right now with the JIC single exit style exhaust. I cannot stand this exhaust whatsoever... I have tried and tried and tried to get used to it but I really cant take it anymore..... What do you guys think about putting the stock exhaust back on minus a re-tune, bad idea?

What is it about the exhaust that you don’t like. You didn’t mention WHY you don't like the exhaust.

I am looking for knowledgeable opinions on the consequences of doing the swap, If I have to keep it then I guess I will suffer until I save up enough after the holidays to purchase something else.

Waaaay too loud for my taste and my sons ears. Also I think the single exit look is a downgrade for this car which I really cant stand..

No retune = bad idea. Your A/F will be real rich.

Top Speed Pro-1 is a stainless steel dual muffler 3" for only $479. With the silencers in it's pretty quiet.

PhxBlue- Im under the impression that unichip comes with a turn-key program stock with the APS Turbo kit. Is your ECU Flashed? What engine management are you using? Remember horsepower is created in the combustion chamber simply by increasing pressures and raising the BTU's(British Thermal Units) hence changing volume, compression, stroke, and/or type of forced induction. If exhaust and intakes are detrimental to AFR's then we would have engines blowing up all the time. The ECU's job is to caluculate and adjust (up to and to limit) due to the variables and information received and staying within the parimeters that has been programmed. I feel personally taking off the JIC and going back to stock would probably be ok. Just keep in mine you will most likely lose performance which intakes and exhaust usually increase or decrease. Dynos cost about 100 bucks for 3 runs. Try it and post. Im sure everyone would be curious to see the difference.

no offense but did you honestly think a single would be the same as the stock. if you wanted a nice sound then get a borla. I just put the hks osingle on my car and its very loud but thats what i like. u gotta sacrafice certain things to have a cool car. but if you dont like it then get a new one or go back to stock. IMO the stock exhaust is cool enough. I loved it with my tnetics st kit but then again it was too restrictive.

Its bad only if you dont add rear bodykit. But when peeps say its nasty then I just say "so you think the skyline is ugly" If you got a turbo, a single exhaust is the way to go, its easy and gives you the most gains for your buck. Stop all the hating.

I am not hating, but I think a single looks odd when you have two exhaust cut outs on the car, but only 1 exhaust tip.

I would have gone with the APS dual exhaust for the ST is I had an APS ST.

i understand. i felt the same way about the rasp and smell i got w/ testpipes when i was na. it makes no sense to run something on your car that you don't like. it ruins the experience.

That will make it look a little better, but it will still look a bit out of place on this car, imo.

As far as going with a single over dual tip for performance purposes, I don't think that you will notice significant gains to justify it. The size of the piping is going to make the biggest difference.

Your opinion I respect that....but you know what, the piping and muffler only weighs 9.8lbs so that makes me happy knowing I took back some of the weight Ill be adding with the kit

i have the stainless resonated with the ti muffler. a little too loud for my taste on the g35 but i couldn't knock the horsepower bump. stock tune and fuji exhaust with the reducer pipe= 320whp 360tq. with the jic single side and a safe tune=385whp 402tq. sometimes going all out means dealing with the after effects. btw, your jic should have come with a silencer that you have to drill 2 small holes in the tip to secure. ask your installer. it might quiet the exhaust down to a tolerable level.

I love the Single exit. I think for ST it would be better. For TT dual would be. Again and again its personal prefrence.

Back to the main question. I would get a retune just for $hits and giggles. and ofcourse insurance

I believe all JIC canister style exhausts come with a silencer already installed (at least it was in mine) inside the muffler. No need to drill the hole and buy a small nut and bolt to attach. As soon as I opened my box, I took mine out, because I will never use it
