Ok so have any of you fixed the problem besides JETPILOT because I am thinking of just going his route. I boost spike all the time and it pisses me off its no fun having a turboed Z and cant even punch it.

I'm waiting to see if TN releases a fix. They have told us they are working on it and I think you have to take them for their word for now. I would guess that at even with all of the permutations of WG size & WG position, they should have something pretty soon.

I keep asking but so far no update on their status.

Turbonetics is actively working on a solution for this. For those of us who have spent ~$5-6K on additions to the kit, spending another $500+ on a wastegate and several hundred to install it isn't feasible when Turbonetics is willing to provide a fix. I'm willing to be patient, because I have great faith that the Tnetics engineers will provide a solution to this issue.

i am actually on the phone with Brian now and he said they are currently running tests right now and will have something in a couple weeks.

You know Im one of the guys that have spent an extra 5k looking for a fix so tossing another grand on a wastegate and fabrication is a little tempting. After tossing this much money into it whats another grand.

Thanks for the update, that is good to know.

As far as fixing it yourself, its not really that feasible unless you are willing to live with venting to atmosphere (WICKED LOUD) like JET. Otherwise expect to pay up the wazooo to try to fix it yourself.

I have been quite impressed by the TN customer service too. Replacing JET's turbo when he blew the seal, etc. its all great. Sounds like that will continue with a solution for this overboost issue too. So I'm waiting...and trying to be patient.

I shipped off my Topspeed Pro-1 exhaust to Turbonetics two weeks ago for them to use in testing on a shop car. They are doing working to get this solved, trust me...

I'll be isntalling the TN kit sometime next month. I'll probably ditch the strup headers that I have on now and, reinstall the OEM manifolds. I do, however have a Tanabe UMR single exit exhaust...I could very well be adding my name to this list after the install.

Thats doubtful for two reasons. One none of the Tanabe exausts has had this issue. Second Turbonetics has determined what the issue is and is working on making some corrected piping for those with it now..

^^ Yep, I don't think any of Tanabe's exhausts are bigger than 2.75...

What was the problem Turbonetics found? Was it the wastegate mounting position?

I don't have precise details on what the issue was or how they fixed. I just got word that it was figured out and that they were working on making correction hardware for it. Reggie has been out of town for a couple days and was heading up this project. I think he's back today so I'll see what I can find out...

I suspect you're going to have to be patient for a little while longer. Even if they identify a fix based on a one off, custom solution, they're not going to then hand-build fixes for each of us that have the problem. They're likely going to re-tool the production specs for all kits going forward and we existing customers will get the first batch of the new product. This re-tooling and production probably will take a few weeks to get all the way through the design/supply change before it's ready to ship. Turbonectics is a pretty big company, and they have to think on a scale larger than this one problem and the handful of people that have experienced it. I'm not saying they're not going to take care of us, but they're looking at this as a design modification to a product that is still being produced, not a problem that occured to a product they've already sold.
