Default 350z turbonetics problem

ok, check this out.... im showing my friends my car at idle parked outside. And all of a sudden, i notice (ill explain it the best i can), a gargling noising, bubbling noise coming from the from intake pipe.... the one from the K&N filter to the front of the turbocharger. ive never heard anything like it before. My shop that did my install is closed so im lookin for some help. i brought it to a mechanic and he said the turbo may be blown and he thinks it leaking antifreeze cause when we rev it up at idle... on the way down from revving white smoke comes out of my apex muffler. im not to good with how the whole turbo setup thing works so any help will be awesome.... thank you guys!@!! ryan

okay....is it bluish white or just white? does the smoke linger or does it disappear?

if the smoke stays, that's oil smoke, and should have a tad bit of blue to the color, and if the smoke disappears, that's antifreeze....which wouldn't be from the turbo because the turbo isn't water cooled.

nah, its seems to be purely white, and after it comes out 2 seconds later, its gone. would that explain the gargling noise coming from my filter pipe?

if the smoke disappears..........its antifreeze.

I think you may have popped a headgasket.

make sure it isnt the AC line, a friend of mine installed his turbonetics and the head shield that wraped around the ac line fell down and it hit the turbo and burned the rubber ac line, it wont mess with how the car runs but you'll have to take off a bunch of parts to replace it. check it out and let us know.

Guys I think we are all jumping ahead here. His only issue reported besides the smoke which very well could be something bad is that there is a gurgling sound in FRONT of the turbo on the compressor inlet. Dude like I told you yesterday, get that bumper off and check the crankcase vent hose.

start with the simplest and finish with the most complicated.

dude, you can handle popping off the bumper and checking the breather. By doing this yourself you'll learn a LOT about how the setup works. Trust me. It's better for you to learn this stuff then have to depend on a shop every time something goes wrong.

Independence is a good thing and you can always post back here if you get stuck on stuff too.

I agree with this however I wouldn't badger him about it. If he feels like he can't do it then let it be. He may not even have all the necessary equipment like the rest of us. Just wait to take it to the shop that installed it...we don't want you to do any more damage. Maybe you can watch them do it since your a novice and pick up a few pointers

Okay was your car just started up, and sitting there, was it cold outside??? If you have no cats, and a full exhaust, my car does that when i start it up for about 30 seconds till its warmed up. Not white smoke, Its just exhaust vapor, I hope

Like when i race in 65+degree weather in the day, you can just smell my exhaust, and cant see anything, when i race at night, and i have someones tailights on my rear-end....i can literaly see the exhaust fumes come out, it look slike smoke but its the lights messing with my head, plus when you shift, if you racing? Your dump-tubes go right back in the exhaust...and shoot out the exhaust

59 degreese, sitting there at idle... i have one high-flow cat. so i drove it home 30 minutes away with no problems driving around... got home, popped the hood and the noise is still gargling from the same spot. i "assume" if my headgasket was blown, wouldn't my car run like crap??

I was blowing white smoke a few months ago and the car ran fine. When they tore down my motor I had 3 fried pistons.

Here is something you can do on your own. If I could do it (I am the least mechanically person in the world) then you can do it. Pull your spark plugs and see if you have oil all over the tips. If you do it's not a good sign.

well, do a leakdown and compression test, im sure your fine...if its cold out side and you just started up your car, STEAM will come out the exhaust, if you head gasket was blown, youd problay be able to tell...just by checking your fluids
