Unless you are dumping the wastegate to atmosphere sound is not a factor. As for the BOV I think Intense Motorsports is still running a Greddy Type RS with their kit.

mia, I-M changed the BOV on TN kit to a greddy? If so, did it mess up the black chrome finish or was it a direct bolt on?

Yes they did. They wanted a Greddy Type RS. It can be done using the existing flange so no there is no damage to the piping. I don't like the way the RS sounds but its personal preference really.

Hello,

Yes, I still have the GReddy Type RS BOV. We just flat blacked the horn, as the horn comes in an anodized blue that in no way matched anything in my engine compartment.. lol.

how does it sound compared to the TN one? louder or softer? does it go off more often than the TN kit when at vacuum to low boost? does it go off at idle when you rev it up at all cause the TN doesnt...

as we said in another thread, the Z is not an SRT4, it's not going to do this man, no matter what bov you use.

yeah, if i wanted a car with a farting exhaust that blows off perpetually, idle or not, i'd have bought an SRT4. That is, if I wanted to be a tard driving a skittle

out of curiousty, why do bovs discharge when reved in idle in certain cars and not in others? i know it does not discharge when in idle in my friend's g35c with the greddy kit, but it would in another friend's wrx (though the bov has since been removed..)

look at the size turbos each car uses. the large portion of Z kits utilize larger turbos. Greddy has twin 18gs, the TN has a 60-1.

stock SRT and wrx turbos are tiny. they can spool with a sneeze.

You hit the nail on the head Mike. With the size of the compressors we use its just not going to spool up under essentially no load. The only way I can get mine to make a noise when not moving is to rev to redline which is obviously not good. The puny little turbos in WRXs, SRT-4s etc will spool if you cough at them. Personally I'd rather have performance in a race then sound when stopped and just showing off. Function over Form. BOVs have become the new under car neon these days but people don't understand that they are there to serve a specific purpose. Sure companies have touted their "styling" and "sound" as reasons to buy them but its there to serve a purpose. Release air from the charg e piping to prevent compressor surge. You don't want the best "sounding" or "looking" valve you went the one that flows the most air but is able to transition from close to open to close quickly as well. If you can get some looks and a good sound out of it at the same time by all means go for it. But anything that keeps your turbo reliable should by function over form not the other way around.

Exactly as started above by Chimmike and MIAPLAYA... Man second time today of agreeing with the both or ya'll

I have driven boosted cars before, though they were all 4 bangers with smaller turbo's... So blowing off was very easy, then when my Z got the boost treatment... I noticed I have to be well into boost to get a loud blow off. Not trying to be a ricer, just because I was used to hearing it even at revving at a stop... I was thinking maybe something was wrong with my stuff, since already the shop I used for the install had made some mistakes.

But after that learned that the reasons stated above are the reasons why

Hello,

Ahahahah.. this is so funny that the SRT-4 analogy was brought up on this thread. One of those kids around here was blowing off left and right like a $5 ***** last weekend.. lol. On a serious note, however, I did have a full glass of hatorade

I for one, plan on sticking with my Raptor bov as it's the sexiest one I've had/heard. I've used the type S (rice magnet and annoying), blitz bov (okay, nothing special, kinda blah), and Forge diverter valve (pretty sweet considering it was a recirc unit)

If you want attention, get the TurboXS RFL BoV.

But as stated, I think the raptor sounds sweet.
