don't use RP, it thins out far too much. Mobil 1 is fine, or Amsoil. Or the TN oil.

most guys are using 5w30. I personally think that's too thin, but it's what came with my TN kit, so I'm using it.

Only royal purple I'd use is their full race synthetic.

i've been using Turbonetics TS-1 oil since my kit went on. Its been great for me... Attached is an oil analysis after 11,000 boosted miles. The TBN rating is of note. Typical TBN number for synthetic oil is 8 or 9 when BRAND NEW. This number typically drops after use. Mine was still an 11 after 3,000 miles on this oil. TBN being the amount of additive still active in the oil. Also attaching Turbonetics fact sheet on their oil..

Pretty good report, MIA. For us hot climate people 10-40 for the summer and 5-30 for the winter. Some even go higher such as 20-50. The new Mobil1 extended performance has so many antiwear additives and stabilizers that it often causes foaming. Regular Mobil1, Amsoil or Castrol Syntec all will work fine. I did a Blackstone of my 1st built motor after 2k miles(not counting the 200mile breakin) and on 10-40 the numbers were great considering how much it was beat on.

Yeah I was kinda wondering about switching to something heavier but I ran that oil all through summer even at the track and never had a problem. I'm going to do an oil analysis with every change this summer and see what comes back. I'll be pushing a bit more HP then too. Surprisingly this is the exact same oil Turbonetics used in their Drag Barrier Celica. Not a one off or "based on" but according to the GM the EXACT same formula...

even in summer the heaviest I'd use is 10w30 here in FL, anything heavier than that holds in a lot of heat and creates a lot of drag in the engine.

So far the 5w30 is okay, maybe i'll get some 10w30 later on in the spring.

Rob,

Do you happen to have any extra oil sitting around or do you know where I can get some? Thanks

I got the Eternal ST I got it for a lower price. I'll bring it by on tuesday the 21st when I come back from N.C. The car should be done by then. Here is everything that is included with the kit. I know that they added a oil pan spacer to the kit also. I'm also using the EU instead of the Unichip. Thanks for the oil info Rob. I think I'll take a trip to oceanside today hopefully he will have some in stock when I call. Thanks again.

I'm going to have my friends at RNR racing install it for me since they have a guy that can tune the EU. I just got back from Mossy and I have a case of oil in my trunk. Thanks for the help and info. I might show up for a minute tonight around 6. Do you guys still meet in the parking lot? Hey when I get back we need to make a FI vid with me, you, Josh and Matt.

The point of oil is to lubricate. Heat in the oil system is a good indication that wear is happening and lubrication can be better. Drag on the engine on a TT car is not even a worry. I have a good friend that is a oil tech, in other words is all he does is do radioactive wear tests on engines. What you said goes against what he has preached to me. You are right that heavier oil will make less power but it isn't even 1% if you are comparing different viscosity synthetics. Dyno oils are totally different. He also says that a 15w-50 dyno oil will outperform a pure synth stock 5w-30 in any wear test.

I use a 50/50 mix of 15w50 and 5w30 of Mobil1. That makes a 10w40 grade I guess...

Is there a reason you use 10w-40 over 10w-30 ?? Just curious why.
